Well, that backs it up until at least 1875...probably more like 1871...not long after the Civil War, where Custer became a hero.

Considering the fact that the vets were all from the south its interesting that Custer hosted the reunion. I suspect he paid for their trip as well.

It offers some interesting insight to the feelings of some fairly soon after the civil war.
