Mel Gibson is poised to quit the US after selling his mansion near New York.
The disgraced Lethal Weapon star, who faces allegations of violence from his Russian former girlfriend, sold the mock Tudor property, known as Old Mill Farm, for £16 million – £10 million less than the asking price.
Gibson has also put his Malibu home, Lavender Hill Farm, on the market for £10 million, according to a property newsletter.
He has told friends that he will move back to Australia - where he grew up after moving from America when he was 12 - with his ex-wife Robyn, who still supports him.
Gibson, 54, is ready to contest the allegations of Oksana Grigorieva, 40, who claims he punched her and hurt their baby, Lucia, in a drunken rage in January.
A source close to the family said: ‘Oksana’s allegations have united Mel and Robyn and this move is her idea.

The story has been corrected. It originally stated he would return to his “native Australia” but now accurately indicates he was born in the USA. I find it interesting that Gibson lost the Aussie accent he had when he first returned to the United States, probably by design.
Russian women are as nuts as Mel. They deserved each other. Cant say I blame him for wanting to move away from this country.
Without the two of them it would have been a mediocre movie at best. But those two performances made it worth watching.
Although my friends son is married to a Russian lady. One of the most beautiful blonds I have ever met. Hard working, good family girl and a 22 inch waist when she was married.
I do not understand Gibson. If you are going for young, pick someone beautiful as well. This skank is a troll.

You're absolutely right. Particularly as he'll have nothing to do there. The man is a border collie, he has to work at something he considers valuable or he'll revert to alcoholism and destructiveness.

You have noticed that the so-called tapes have apparently been altered? Possibly even faked entirely? I think it too early to decide who is at blame, just yet. Wait for it...
So far, nobody seems to have been able to listen to the original recordings. Just posted excerpts. One expert who examined the posted material says there are a number of "artifacts" that indicate tampering, including dropouts, fades, and transients. He also said until someone gets to examine the originals, no one CAN know what was really said, or if Mel is really the one saying it.
