Vanity- What grinds your gears?
July 2, 2010

Posted on 07/02/2010 7:01:42 PM PDT by InvisibleChurch

Pulling out of the drive up at the coffee shop the girl utters, "Have a good one".

men who use those plastic sticks on the grocery check out lanes to separate their cans of beets from the next person's bag of apples. A man ought to be able to defend his turf.

when I say "thank you" and the response is "no problem"

We are talking Red neck Nascar here

Always enjoyed "Red Neck Nascar" in my "Yute".
It wasn't "Gentlemen start your engines", it was "Okay, ain't no cops around".

When I am cleaning one room the kids are destroying another. It’s like an endless cycle some days.

Sex is great for when you have migraines! I feel so much better afterward and sleep like a baby ;)

"You have met my wife."

So that's who it was. I thought it was another of those agents sent out to make me eat vegetables and get me off my all-red-meat diet. Never, I tells ya!

Thank you for your expert interpretation! LOL! I guess he snogged the peanut butter, and I snogged him for getting it for him.

Maybe the rest is for later.

Aunt Bee really gets around. She is everywhere holding up lines. When she isn’t gabbing she is looking for a coupon for every item she is going to purchase, and then instead of using cash or credit card she pays with a two party check from Zimbabwe.

have to swing out to the right into MY lane

I saw a bobtail truck try a U-turn from a left lane next to a Prius. He must have had 8-10 feet hanging behind the rear axle. As he turned, his right-rear corner wiped the side mirror off the Prius like it wasn't even there. I had to laugh!

What grinds your gears?

Employees who use informal "texting" language in professional emails. Exp. "R U going 2 attend the meeting on the project". This seems to be especially prevalent in the under thirty crowd.

also

"Dude" speak in the workplace. In grinds my gears when some kid right out of college refers to me as "dude" every other sentence. I have one particular employee that is otherwise a good worker, but takes this to the extreme. The regional VP was visiting and I introduced him to this employee and the the employee responded, S'up Dude! I was mortified...

It was also where the deer and the antelope played. Missing those deers was a tough job.

Here I am in AZ. Found a turtle on my front porch the other day. It was a snapping one. Got him a baby pool. One of our neighbors moved out and the big turtle bolted his cage.

He’s now home with his owner. I asked the new neighbors if they owned a big turtle. They looked at me as if I were crazy, well, not too far from the truth. Then the old neighbor came back to look for his turtle. They told the old neighbor I had it.

Things do happen in AZ.

I mix my sirloin into a greek salad with feta cheese.

I have a physical aversion to leafy green vegetables (well, ALL green vegetables), and feta cheese is gross, to me.

I don't know what it is with my very meat-centric diet, but I've never had major health issues, blood pressure is low if anything, cholesterol and all that other stuff is fine. I'm definitely of the "ain't broke, don't mix it with leafy greens" school.

I like some greens. Others(like brussels sprouts) I never ate when I wasn’t made to.

“And that was pretty close to where you live or lived then, Laguna Beach. Now it’s a freeway, but back then it was pretty much a dirt road to the beach.”

I remember when going to Balboa was a 2 lane road and Knotts Berry Farm was exactly that, a strawberry farm and a roadside stand selling berries and jelly and jam.

As far as freeways, my father plastered the tunnels on the Passadena Freeway and I watched every other one of them being built, in fact when they built the Golden State Freeway it went right over our office and warehouse.

They wouldn’t give us anything for the mineral rights so I still have the mineral rights under the freeway.

Drill Baby Drill!!!

That’d be Red Neck Nascar. The big one, with its copyrights and all, ought to be able to spell the word and use it correctly.
