TdF 2010 Stage 16 graphics and previews are up!

Click the 'To' option to go to the start of the Stage 16 posts.

The Stage starts at 11:40 local time CEST (6 hrs ahead of US EDT).

velonews.com - "At nearly 200km, Stage 16 promises to be one of the toughest of this year’s Tour. It crosses all four of the most famous passes in the Pyrénées — the Cat. 1 Peyresourde and Aspin, and the hors category Tourmalet and Aubisque — and includes 15,000 feet of actual climbing.

Adding to the historical importance of the stage is this being the 100th anniversary of the Tour first crossing these four peaks. The last time a Tour stage ran from Luchon to Pau, in 1964, Federico Bahamontes went solo over the Aubisque and came into Pau with a two-minute lead over a 13-man chase group."

Since Andy is starting today in the white jersey, did they give AC the Maillot noir? I think it would be much more fitting than jaune, although he was cowardly.

well, it looks like Lance is going to go for the stage win today as I speculated. he attacked right out of the start today and is now leading a group that is currently 3:44 ahead of the peleton after 70 KM.

If Lance can keep this group peddling hard all day, I can see him attacking again on Tourmalet or more likly Aubisque and try to lock the stage up with a long solo ride down to the finish.

Since he is not a GC threat, I can see Contador, Schleck and company letting him go and have his day in the sun.
