>>> John McCain is not a “natural born” citizen. He is a statutory citizen.

I think McCain’s military service and POW status removes any question about his loyalties... which is the heart of the natural born eligibility clause.

However, if there is ANY question as to whether or not place of birth disqualifies a candidate, they should become legally certified BEFORE running for office. And, if too many people still question their qualifications, they should consider not running out of respect for the law.

How did permanent resident alien Roger Calero get on the ballot in some states, in 2008?

And, if too many people still question their qualifications, they should consider not running out of respect for the law.

A truly moral man (or woman) interested in public service should never pursue an office for which he knows he is not eligible. Didn't John Adams say our Constitution is only for a moral people and is not fit to govern any other? That means ''HONOR SYSTEM" is there on the document as a watermark. Discerning individuals should always see it.

Ineligible candidates with an internal sense of morals and conscience should disqualify themselves. The law should take care of the rest.
