Maybe a tingle up your leg will make it feel better.
Sure enough, my neighbor said I’m looking very thin in my newly discovered outfit!
*drool*
I traveled alone from my home in Utah to Reno, NV when I was 10...on the bus.
Not saying you should put a byo on the bus, but with Traveler’s Aide (or whatever it’s called now) and a minimum of changes, a plane trip isn’t inconceivable. We would have to start with the older ones first. I suspect the two older boys wouldn’t want to come and put up with me, but maybe the girls could come together.
Just thinking outloud. There is a casino here (Circus-Circus) that has a totally enclosed amusement part outdoors, called the Adventure Dome. It’s PINK! I think an all-day pass is $25 (this year) but it’s hugh and I’m sure whoever got to come would have a good time.
There are a LOT of free things to do here, believe it or not! Like I said: thinking outloud.
I guess I’ll have to wait a bit for my knee to heal before I can begin to work out again. Then I’ll see how many things there are in my closet that are thin. :o]
The package bunneh is on his way to the Pacific Northwest, today. Look for it by Friday.
TC, it was pretty doggone interesting!! Thanks for sending it!
Back from Walmart. We went to Circus-Circus when I was a kid, in the early 1970s. I think it was an early effort by Vegas to provide *something* for kids to do other than swimming.
You’re welcome. One of the most interesting parts, to me, was Saiid’s interactions with the dreadful bureaucracy, both in Iran and in Turkey. It’s mind-boggling - and exactly what our present rulers would like to impose on all of us!
We also had Wet’n’Wild that was almost across the street from Circus-Circus, but it had to make way for another casino. That place was packed from April to October, and it was a very good place for kids.
C-C still has the Circus Floor for the kids, but the Adventure Dome is where most of them want to be.
Most casinos have a “family section” with arcades and motion rides, but some also have full-fledged amusement parks. Then there is the Stratosphere, with its Big Shot and the roller coaster that goes around the edge...you couldn’t get me in that place!
Can you imagine what it would have been like if he had “done something?” As it was, it seems that his Spiritual Antenna was working just fine.
(I love happy endings!)
Me, too! I was sniffling when all the family met him at the airport.
There were several places where I sniffled. But I’ve been having problems with that lately, anyway, so I had tissues handy.
Me too. Doubly as the Gaelic fades.
Yes, it is addictive!
One line I have goes back to King David I of Scotland. He was cool, so I’ll happily claim him. Others... not so much.
Maybe I should expand my lines around the 1620’s and see if my relatives and yours crossed anywhere. ;-) Goodness knows, there was alot of crossing going on.
Most of my immigrant ancestors came to this country very early in its founding, in the 1600’s. Only a couple came later. I found out that I’m not primarily English/Irish, as I’d been told all my life, half my ancestors were actually German and Swiss Mennonites who settled in Pennsylvania. Other ancestors pushed to California during the Gold Rush, where lines from the Northeast and the South met up and created my family. Cool, huh?
I knew there was a reason I liked Oktoberfest and Dachshunds.
I’ve lost track of the lines that go to William the Conquerer, Charlemagne and into the Nordic/Vik lines.
There are a lot in Europe (all of it) and just today I ran across two second cousins who married. No mother is listed for either but the father was from Ireland.
There is even Duncan I, as well as his grandfather, King Duncan. And I’m only about a third of the way through the old records I have. Most of what I’ve been doing has come from the ‘net, so I’m just updating the names I already have.
We ought to be able to find a common granfather, somewhere. Do any of your lines go through the Plantagenets? If so, I’ve got scads of info. (What I’m currently working on.)
All of this is on my father’s side. My mother’s side is almost like a brick wall, and we think it’s because of the Native American lines. We can go back about 7-8 generations and then nothing.
We do go through the Plantagenets, through my grandfather John Bailey. That would be our English to French line (that I also knew nothing about growing up.)
My paternal grandfather’s line I finally traced back to Henry Towles, who arrived in Virginia in the 1600’s. Grandmother’s side... back three and then nothing. Some of them it’s like a black hole, others there’s a wealth of information.
I go back to Duncan I as well... hey, maybe we’re cousins!
LOL!
You have FReepmail.
There are Duncans on my mother’s side, and I was married to a Duncan, so I’m REALLY Scottish!! :o])
Frank and I had a nap. Now I have to make supper. This time-zone thing is weird; I’m listening to LV radio and getting mixed up!
LV has some good stations, and some really ugly ones. There are only a few that I would listen to.
At least you have a first-hand “look” at our weather!
