I’ve lost track of the lines that go to William the Conquerer, Charlemagne and into the Nordic/Vik lines.

There are a lot in Europe (all of it) and just today I ran across two second cousins who married. No mother is listed for either but the father was from Ireland.

There is even Duncan I, as well as his grandfather, King Duncan. And I’m only about a third of the way through the old records I have. Most of what I’ve been doing has come from the ‘net, so I’m just updating the names I already have.

We ought to be able to find a common granfather, somewhere. Do any of your lines go through the Plantagenets? If so, I’ve got scads of info. (What I’m currently working on.)

All of this is on my father’s side. My mother’s side is almost like a brick wall, and we think it’s because of the Native American lines. We can go back about 7-8 generations and then nothing.

We do go through the Plantagenets, through my grandfather John Bailey. That would be our English to French line (that I also knew nothing about growing up.)

My paternal grandfather’s line I finally traced back to Henry Towles, who arrived in Virginia in the 1600’s. Grandmother’s side... back three and then nothing. Some of them it’s like a black hole, others there’s a wealth of information.
