Nutmeg struck by fly ball? I’d expect it to be it by a ground ball.
Thanks, FRiend! :o)
Your suggestion regarding paying attention in unnetted ballparks is a wise one.
Take care.
Thank you so much for your good wishes! :o)
Please see my update #163 above, if you have a chance... I don't have a heavy cast, and I've included some links to other "hit by baseball" articles.
And now you've given me two more stories... wow, there are way too many baseballs going astray lately! :-(
In a shocking split-second, Span hit a hard foul ball that struck his mom in the upper chest Wednesday. She was treated by paramedics and back in the stands minutes later.
OMG, what a story... Denard Span hits his own mother! And in the chest, no less... yikes. Thank God she is alright.
Yes, some of these ball-hit incidents do take place in a "shocking split-second", or even outside of the ballpark (see my post 163 above). Bringing a glove to the game doesn't always do the trick in cases like this.
Thanks, lysie! :o)
So what happened? You lose the directions to your refrigerator or did someone steal it?
My Grandmother was a regular attendee at Guides and Sea Dog games, and was a Red Sox fan from sometime in the Twenties until her death in 2003. We have a family joke that the Sox won the Series in 2004 because she was able to intercede with God in person.
Oh, how sweet! I sure wish my father and grandparents were still around in 2004 to see the Red Sox win the World Series in 2004. Maybe they "interceded" with God as well... ;-)
I only went to that one Maine Guides game... I vacationed in Maine once in awhile, not every summer. I was well enough to attend the rest of that game, I just had to hold an icepack to my cheek the entire time, LOL.
Wow, big names like Sting and Steve Winwood were slated to play a small venue like that? I think the noise would have been an "issue"... Weren't there residential areas close to that ballpark?
I've seen Sting and the Police one or two times over the years, but long before I knew about his politics. Yeah, he puts on a good show.
What doesn’t kill you leaves you with a GREAT story to tell.
LOL, good point!
I saw a t-shirt recently: "Scars are tattoos with better stories" ;-)
Many years ago I was at the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit when a little girl in the first row behind home plate had her hands in the netting and her face as well and took a foul tip right in her face.......
Ugh! Yeah, that's another thing... people really should stay away from the netting. The idea is to sit behind it, not clutch it, or put your face (or even feet, as I recently saw in a minor league ballpark) up against the net.
LOL, hey, even all that may not be enough protection! I love NautiNurse's suit of armor in #139! ;-)
So glad to hear you’re doing better! And, thanks for the reminder to pay attention...especially with little ones.
Hope you get that 3rd autograph!
Glad to hear the worst is over and you're mending well. You can always get a tattoo over that scar...perhaps a red sock.....
I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn at the baseball field at Old Orchard Beach back then. Beach all day and SRV at night was very cool.
I'll try one of those scar-fading creams once the small butterfly bandages (holding the incision together) are removed.
OR ... you can break open some Vitamin E capsules and rub these along the incision. They work just as well. FWIW, I have a 12" abdominal incision from surgery 3 years ago. Today, it is practically invisible without the application of topical ointments or vitamin E. Oh the marvels of modern sutures.
Well I’ll say one thing...you sure do have a sweet attitude about all this. LOL
God bless you dear one and eat some cracker jacks for me! :-)
