What's yer round up number. How long you been a freeper? (Old Time Freepers Wanted)

Scythian - Since Dec 29, 1998
I've given my opus a few times but always came a crawlin' back. I figure if they go by "join date" we old timers will go first ...
So any active Freepers out there have joined dates more ancient than mine?

Officially since
Jan 1, 1998, but in fact I was were for some time before that:
At first membership was totally anonymous --only later did we have to tie our screen name to a registered email account.
My join date is....probably closer to August, 1997, but that's just a guess.
Early on there were a lot of Freepers (the term had not yet been invented) who not only loved FR, but did feel entitled to tell the forum what to do, or how to be. And when that didn't happen, they'd get really emotional, and run away in very grand, noisy style.
Usually in fact they would come back specifically to go away AGAIN, I guess because they had not done so extravagantly enough the first time..?
Membership really took off after Drudge linked to us, and talk radio show hosts (like KSFO in San Francisco) started mentioning us in a pretty big way.

You signed up 10-23-98 - hover the pointer over a name - and there’s the sign up date...

I'm close: I joined in 99 but switched my nick in 2000. Same with me, though I had trouble with that account, I don't know if I could even sign on to it again. This one now began in 2002, but I changed my nick again!!

I had another name back then. I know I was here for the 2000 election and that may have been what got me to FR (from a Drudge link as I recall). But I almost want to say it was something else big before that time. Maybe it was the whole Monica and Bill thing?
Well, I’m here now anyway.

Oh yeah: I'd completely forgotten about that little explosion. But we've had a few of them over the years and some rather amusing opus episodes, too
The saddest day for me around here was when we lost 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub (Brian Marotta). He was a terrific guy. And then there was kattracks, and so many others....

I may be one the longest active members who have used the same name, but I'm sure lots of people are still here under new ids. The days before Jim went to the registration format were like the wild west and no one knew who was posting as what.
Fun though.
