SNIPPET: “NEW YORK While major orchestras across the country are experiencing a dearth of musicians, they wont be hanging Help Wanted signs on the back door of the pit anytime soon.
In the coming orchestral season the New York Philharmonic will have 12 vacant chairs, left empty by variously motivated departures, while the Boston Symphony Orchestra will have 10, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra nine, the Los Angeles Philharmonic seven, and the Cleveland Orchestra. The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony each have three empty slots.”
