On a frigid 10 degree January morning in south central Pennsylvania my brother and I were in a place of business when he nudged me and motioned in the direction of a woman who had just come in the door; wearing flip-flops! As she walked past us he made this remark: “Behold the weaker sex.”
Yeah! Weaker sex. Anything that can bleed for 5 days every month, and keep on truckin’ as though nothing had happened, is not to be messed with!
When I see so many women in flip flops I wonder if the sales of women dress shoe have gone down a bunch in the past few years. If so then don’t invest in womens shoe stocks. Maybe they wear flip flops instead of regular dress shoes so they can save money for other things like overpriced coffee, cell phone gadgets and i-pods.
Cause they’re convenient? I don’t wear my sandals very often, but I always make sure I have a pair of hush puppies handy.
I’m a woman, and I never found flip-flops comfortable at all. Like you, I always wear shoes or sneakers. There’s nothing bad-looking about my feet; I’m just more comfortable in shoes. It might be unusual for a woman to wear shoes all the time, though; I even wear shoes in the house. I know women who prefer to be barefoot all the time.
They do it because women are HOT!!!
Flip flops are more comfortable than pantyhose and heels. Personally, I wear tennis shoes everywhere and wear flip flops when I can’t find my crocs. lol
My wife has 10 pairs of flip flops in different colors. It’s all she wears. They cost $10 per pair.
I keep my mouth shut.
Once you conquer high heels, flip flops are kid stuff.
When you run in high heels, you run on your toes. Try that sometime.
Honestly, ANYTHING is better than watching young men (mostly black) wandering around holding their pants up by the fly because if they let go, it all falls down...the pants are so big. Disgusting—like they’re fondling themselves all day long in public.<p?
Flip-flops are OK by comparison...I hate to go out in public when boys and men have to hold their privates parts in full display.
I love flip flops/thongs. In SoCal you can wear them for half the year, and there are a million different kinds, all designers, all materials, colors. They are super comfortable, and they do show off your pedicures.
And you had BETTER get lots of pedicures and care for your feet nightly too, if you are showing them all day. SOME people's feet are not fit for thongs.
Damn kids these days and their whore shoes. :-)
I live in a pair of Birkenstock thongs, and I love them.
I lived in flip-flops (we called them thongs back then) in the 70’s and live in them again these days. I LOVE the freedom that comes with flip-flops. Plus, there are
SO MANY cute styles. They are cheap and you can get colors for almost every outfit. I DON’T wear them hiking, though, haha!
Living in Phoenix for 12 years and having been in Sweden for the past year, I fantasize about my flip flops. All 50 pairs...
I also have a bad back & they are easy for me to slip on without having to bend over all the time. I work in my yard alot & keep a pair by front & back doors, as I do not allow shoes to be worn in the house.
I have dressy sandals & dressier flip flops for running to the grocery store or evening wear, but for around our boat or yard, where my feet are likey to get wet, I keep my flip flops handy!!
Agree, they look a heck of alot better than those clunky crocs, and take notice, the ones who wear those crocs, are the ones who should not be drawing attention to their legs or feet. Crocs are cute on a 2 year old!!!
nothing wrong with flip flops on chicks...my wife wears them
(so do I....the softest Tevas I can find)
have heel scraper and a tub of Aquaphor handy though...horrible for heel support
VC ran hell through woods and swamps in flip flops...just as a side note
and I walk pretty good in them too
As a more “mature” woman, I was thrilled to find flip flops with good arch support....I even wear them when working out on the elliptical. I have dressier ones with rhinestones....I have a pair I found this year that look somewhat like sneakers. I love flip flops. Did you know they make them to go with a wedding dress? LOL
I hate flip flops. I especially dislike seeing people with flip flops (or any other shoe for that matter) who drag their feet when they walk! And when wearing flip flops it’s very hard NOT to appear to be dragging your feet. It also irks the crap out of me to see people wear socks with flip flops or sandals. What’s the point of wearing summer footwear with socks (usually white ones! lol) that get dirty as the day goes on? IMO, sandals with socks looks dorky as all get out to boot! Add to that I remember seeing the photo of the group of young women at the White House with President Bush and quite a few of them wearing flop flops. For me, it’s like wearing flip flops to church or wearing them when filing out a job application ~ inappropriate. Just my opinion. :~)
Drop by the Philippines some time. Flip flops, or slippers, are standard dress for men and women, except for formal or business-wear. I’ve seen men carry 2 50 kilo rice sacks on their shoulders from the field, in ankle deep mud, and never take a break to adjust their slippers. They climb trees, pour concrete, climb bamboo scaffolding, herd ducks, plant rice, go to church, play basketball, ride motorcycles, you name it. If I try to wear a pair to the shower or beach, I trip over the front part and the little rubber chunk between my toes bugs me.
