You might try the Horatio Hornblower series of TV movies made for A&E.

There were eight 2-hour movies that follow the career of Hornblower from mid-shipman to commander.

Think of it as a tame Master and Commander times eight.

If you go there, then you also go for ‘Sharpe’. Made by the Irish in Hungary for the Brits, but I found it quite fun. Very low-budget. Stars Sean Bean, very effective as Sharpe.

This is I think the best series ever made. A close second and possibly even better are the Young Indiana Jones series.

Lastly, check out hulu.com. Hulu has just about everything. A laptop and a cable give you a new tv world.

Indiana Jones as a Life Scout. During every important event and some not so important, Indy was there having a fantastic adventure.
