Yogi Berra, the former New York Yankees great, turns 85 years young today.
As Yogi would say, "It ain't over till it's over," and the Hall of Famer is still going strong.
Yogi of Montclair, N.J ... .the 15-time All-Star and three-time winner of the A.L. MVP was right on the money when he said, "Baseball is 90% mental the other half is physical."
Well, Yogi and NewJerseynewsroom.com have a special connection.
You see, Tom Murro, the Celebrity Magnet who writes entertainment features for NJNR, had his picture taken with President Obama a while back and Yogi graciously offered to give Murro a gift so he could give it to the Commander and Chief.
"It is a classic photo," says Murro. "It is of a sliding Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers safe after stealing home against Berra and the Yankees during World Series opening game at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 28, 1955.
Well, Yogi has a different perspective and he signed the photo, ''Dear Mr. President, He was out! ''
"I'm sure the President would love to have it," added Murro.
"We tried, but we have not been able to get the photo to Mr. Obama.
"The White House has not been at all helpful. One person there told me to "just hold onto it until you see him again.'' Yeah, right!"

“Hi, Yogi, you’re looking cool.”
“Thanks, ma’am. You don’t look so hot yourself.”
“Yogi, what’s your cap size?”
“I don’t know. I’m not in shape yet.”
Yogi’s explanation of why the Yankees lost a World Series might explain this Administration: “We made too many wrong mistakes.”
“If you can’t imitate him, don’t copy him.”
“Pair up in threes.”
“Never answer an anonymous letter.”
“I didn’t really say all the things I said.”
Telegram from Yogi to Johnny Bench when Bench broke his record for homeruns by a catcher:
“Congratulations. I knew my record would stand until it was broken.”
Please send our regards to Yogi; heard about his accident and hope he mends up soon.
