Dry here, but not so hot this evening. Nearly pleasant, actually. Made up for the fact that there seems to be little in the way of decent restaurants around here. Guess I’ll have to take the bus to some other areas of the city.

Most people aren't very good story tellers. Many years ago I was working in Dallas Texas at the home office of Trailways. I worked for a typewriter repair company at the time not the bus company. I lived in Fort Worth at the time and was told by my neighbors that Dallas was back east and were Yankees. We were still on a friendly bases with them because they weren't like from some place like “New York City”! They had a lady that had worked with the company for many many years. Enough years that it is not polite to say and not enough yet to brag. Well she was working in the office that kept all the records of each buses maintenance log. There was a old typewriter she used to make label for each of the drawers that held the records of each bus. It wasn't as old as a Remington Standard Typewriter No.2 nor as rare as an Oliver typewriter 3 but she liked the typeface and wanted all the labels to match so she couldn't change typewriters with out changing all the labels witch was several hundred. So we had to fix this typewriter if we wanted the contract. They also had some IBM model 85’s. They could store several pages of letters. Well while at the Trailways office on the third floor there was a group of ladies that would read mail. They were on break saving with each other letters from customers. This one lady had a short novel that she had open at was about a trip to Denver. It seems the bus had mechanical problems with the transmission despite all the neatly kept records by the first lady. It was snowing and very cold outside. Since help was hours away the bus driver removed parts of the floor near him and used a screwdriver to change gears. The story included details about how a snowflake flew up from the hole in the floor and landed on the arm rest next to them. The letter was both complaining of the circumstance and complementary of the bus driver. Unlike this story it made clear concise points. But this letter dose prove like I stated in the beginning that “Most people aren't very good story tellers.” Seeing that I have successfully restated my first line this could be in the class of a shaggy dog story. Which leads me to another story....

I dreamed about pizza. We were on the Gulf Coast, for some reason, and Bill was starving, of course, so we stopped at a Pizza Hut. Bobby Jindal was in there with a news crew, going on about how he was Not Going to Take It Anymore, while the restaurant owner was complaining that there wasn’t any business, because the governor was in the way.

They had the ac cranked way up, and I was freezing.

Maybe the heat here has fried my brain.

Shared an elevator with the society president, grabbed breakfast at the coffee shop (no OJ, oh well), walked over to the convention center, found the meeting room, got all set up, found there's no WiFi here so I went online through the cellphone and now...

...I'm ready to call it a day.

Now, in Singapore drinking whiskey at the e-club. For some reason, all the officers are here as well. Ah well. We were supposed to go to Malaysia again, but the Navy decided that we didn’t have enough money.
Haven’t seen much of the place yet. I plan to go to the zoo. Also there’s a British opera house that looks interesting. But I have duty tomorrow, so that will have to wait.

Any liquor (or wine) with color to it will most likely produce a hangover. I stay with clear liquors and I like white wines, and I can count my hangovers (in maaaaaany years of drinking) on one hand, with fingers left over.
