Oh, incedentally, my dad grew up raising cotton. He was allowed 1 acre for personal use. He grew his acre to provide his spending money. Also, in his backyard later in life, he grew a cotton plant next to his patio, in the city.

Oh -- I forgot to tell you that I picked 5 gallons of gorgeous dewberries this past Sunday evening. Brought them in an immediately washed/juiced/pureed them for various uses. Monday morning I made a pie with a new recipe that turned out OMG good.

This afternoon I've made a batch of seedless jam -- I'm about to start a batch of jelly -- and I had 2-3 cups of crabapple juice left last year that I'm going to blend 50/50 with some dewberry juice for another batch of jelly.

It has begun ...

Cotton is a very pretty plant. I’ve used a few as ornamentals in the past. Your dad must have liked growing cotton to keep it with him.
