I’m cool with wine, particularly, red wine, since it is now PROVEN to have MAJOR health benefits. Vodka and just about any other alcoholic beverage is simply bad for you...or at least they have not been proven beneficial.

If I was a mother living in PA, I’d probably want an IV tube loaded with Vodka going into my right arm, especially if I lived in that school district(lower Merion?)that spied on students through their school-mandated computers.

I think if your mother enjoys alcoholic beverages, it would be far better if drinks are made that encourage less consumption of alcohol, in favor of other ingredients. Go for elaborate concoctions that take a long time to make, and it’s hard to tell how much alcohol is in them.

Also have food with the drinks. Certain foods slow down alcohol absorption, like eggnog made with raw eggs, and boiled potatoes, before drinking. Others tend to neutralize it, such as acidic and salty foods. Pickled foods are very good for this. Follow this up with oily foods, and mom might as well be drinking water.

The same basic principle works even if she drinks alcohol neat.

Try to avoid mixing it with anything carbonated.

"The state shouldn't be promoting alcohol consumption. The timing of this PR campaign is dangerous and disappointing ... and sends the wrong signal to teenagers during prom season."

The message being...what? That alcohol is for Moms and other boring people? Sounds like a good message to me! I wouldn't complain about receiving a nice bottle of WoodFord Reserve for Mother's day, especially not if it came with twelve hours of quiet in which to consume it...
