John Kittel, of Sturbridge, and his 21-year-old son Benjamin were on vacation in Iceland when Eyjafjallajokull began to erupt.
Pleased with their luck, they sped towards the volcano, hiked in, and hired a helicopter pilot.
Benjamin shot this footage upwind from the ash cloud.

Lava? Don't be silly; I mean, even Rick Sanchez knows that you can't get Icelandic volcanoes so hot that you get lava. How the heck can you get hot lava under a glacier?
