my oldest told me that a kid on the school bus lost her phone.
Her father is a cop.
Now nearly a week later the cop still comes on the bus telling kids that they will be done for theft if they are found to have took the phone.
Today a theft report was wrote by the cop.

Now imagine if my kid lost their phone and I reported it to the cops. The cops would tell me that they are too busy to look for a kids phone which they might have either lost or get stolen.

rule for one

I bet he did that for insurance purposes (despite the threats to the kids on the bus). I have done the same thing, never expecting the police to pursue my report, but needing it to file an insurance claim.
