Truth in advertising:
I've been an off and on, Mitt Romney supporter.
By and large, off. But I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Mitt deserves a second look.
True enough, and I respect your point. It just seems an unnecessary lesson to inflict on the unfortunate residents of MA, in the light of the availability of the many other exemplary failures in socialized medicine.
This is like April of 2006 was to the 2008 election, so your obsession with Romney being the only choice of the frontrunners or even lesser possibles is not very convincing.
I think what we have going on here is that you were a Romney/Giuliani fellow in 2008 (you were) and that you really, really want Mitt Romney and would not consider any conservatives.
If she is the nominee, she will get my vote. I just doubt that she will be.
Uh, cut the personal crap and see my last post.
Your noble stand in Romney’s defense notwithstanding, he cannot survive his association with Obamacare. As a rule, every politician who wins carries at least the base. Romney doesn’t have the base, and any chance he had of getting it back is now lost. The tide is against Obamacare and anything resembling it, niceties of federalism notwithstanding, and that tide will overwhelm the ballot box both this November and for several Novembers to come. Romney’s done.
What was personal about post 162?
Romney and Giuliani were your first and second choices for 2008, and you are pushing Romney as the only choice now.
Your arguments are becoming circular. Pushing Romney? In a vacuum, yes. I’ll push anybody against Obama! I was deeply saddened today to hear Mike Pence won’t run. So, Romney. Name an alternative!
The problem in MA wasn’t Romney, it was too many liberal dems. Romney is a conservative winner. Huck or a half dozen other lesser known conservative splitting our vote will doom us and I for one, don’t want to go thru that again.
Is Romney still a gun banner?
Okay, then. Why are we still talking about Slick Willard?
I was in MA, working in the party to support him into and through his governorship.
RomneyCare was all about his national ambitions and also an example of his, “I’m a brilliant manager, let me fashion a way for government to run peoples’ lives better than they could run them themselves” technocrat conceit.
Actually it is yours that are circular.
Posts 160 and 162 both address this weird thing you are doing, of pretending that there are not many alternatives to the totally unacceptable Mitt Romney.
I am mystified why you would be pushing such a candidate on a conservative site.
So it’s
“Mitt is ambitious, and he has delusions of granduer...
Therefore, I support him because it shows the fire in his belly.........”
Enlighten me as to the left using the Alinsky treatment on Mitt on any scale approaching that of their treatment of Palin? LOLOLOLOL
For me, and most people other than the East Coast Moderate style Republicans, Mitt is a non starter......now if we let the Dems pick our candidate again, we may see him at the top of the National ticket.....how’s that been working out for us?
Would you buy a used car from Mitt?
“Uh, Palin supports Juan McCain? WTF?”
WTF is a political calculation on Sarahs part.....
If McCain wins she effectively has a dog collar around his neck.... no more “maverick’ running around like a loose cannon in a Palin Administration.....
If JD wins....what’s not to like? They are kindred souls.......and should get along famously...
Don’t confuse being a good Conservative with being either doctrinaire or naive.
Play Chess not Checkers.......
To support his protoge Meg Whitman for Cal Governor.....
Meg Whitman....Mass. bred and raised, Harvard educated, bi-coastal, just became a “Republican” yesterday.....
.....Oh yeah! right on Mitt....I’ll vote for her! /s
“Then who will.”
Beats me but we ran a POS lib as a Repub last go ‘round.
How’d THAT work out for ya?
All I have done is ask you to name someone else. You seem unable to do so. I will not vote for a ghost. I did say I would vote for Palin if she were the nominee, but you ignored that. Please go away. Thank you.
“Beats me” is the standard conservative candidate, it seems. I will vote for ANY nominee against Obama, but I can’t for “Beats me.”
“Romney is a conservative winner.”
Mitt Romney is a WHAT???!!!
“I will vote for ANY nominee against Obama”
Apples and oranges, we were discussing the nomination fight, not the general election. Stay on topic please. In an effort to find some agreement with you, I have already committed to voting for Mitt if he got the nod, but I plan to fight like hell with the hide off to ensure that it never comes to that.
