Based on the hundreds of e-mails, Facebook comments and Tweets I've read in response to my denunciation of Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's decision to honor Confederates for their involvement in the Civil War -- which was based on the desire to continue slavery -- the one consistent thing that supporters of the proclamation offer up as a defense is that these individuals were fighting for what they believed in and defending their homeland.
In criticizing me for saying that celebrating the Confederates was akin to honoring Nazi soldiers for killing of Jews during the Holocaust, Rob Wagner said, "I am simply defending the honor and dignity of men who were given no choice other than to fight, some as young as thirteen."

Then get your dog to link to a few, since you don't seem to be able to, and prove your point.
Confederates Rule! Yeah!
Visited Ft. Sumter last week. My wife listened to the lecture while I roamed around the fort. After the lecture she said “ Ya know, I really can see how the North pi$$ed off the South. They really had a right to secede because of the restrictions the North placed n them.
Case closed .
Yet you found the time to try to slander him LOL...
What restrictions were those?
All of the above.
One either begets or is the result of the other.
“Days later a civilian wearing a piece of the burned flag in his coat button hole was arrested by US military police.
He was tried by a military court and executed.”
Brutal.
Possibly a glimpse from the past that may become our future.
This sounds like “you’re in the Union d_mnit, and you’re not allowed to leave”. If you want to make that argument, make it. You sound like you know your history better than I do, so maybe it’s legitimate and the Constitution was a one way contract, and I just don’t know better. Sumter’s in Charleston harbor, so I could see why South Carolinians might have a problem with a fort operated by what became a foreign power sitting in the middle of their shipping lanes. Sounds like it was an artificial construct anyway. Maybe the North should have volunteered to demolish it and left.
If:
When it all goes down I will pin the cross of St. Andrew onto my coat and face death with the love of Rebel GOD in my heart. Yeeee-HAW!
And when Texas militia tracked down 65 Unionists attempting to flee to Mexico and killed 35 of them, or when a few weeks later 50 Unionists in lynched in Gillispe Country, or when 150 Unionists were rounded up in Gooke and Grayson Counties and 39 executed, was that terrorism or just plain tyranny?
And those restrictions were?
“This from a man”
I’m supposed to have intelligent discourse with someone who can’t even figure out my gender?
LOL!
Yeah.
I’ve nothing better to do and time to waste on you.
[again]
Like our fearful leader, *you* alone are right and there’s no point in arguing that point.
Let’s don’t go there.
You are aware, aren’t you, that your link pretty much says that it never happened?
It’s not slander if it’s true.
Your screen name is gender neutral.
Ive nothing better to do and time to waste on you.
But you have no problems coming in, making wild accusations, refusing to support them, and then running away.
For the sake of anal discourse, if guess.
Or more commonly known in the South as The War of Northern Aggression.

Sounds like a good start to me.
Why not? It's a legitimate question.
