“You might want to do a little research on the relative incomes of Mac owners compared to PC owners”
Yes because macs cost so much more. Doesn’t change that business uses PC and individuals use mac.
Market share goes to PC, available software goes to PC, interoperability goes to PC, cost goes to PC.
Pretty and stylish goes to Mac.
Strange... I have businesses who use Macs that are clients. They MUCH prefer it. Had PCs and they will NEVER go back. Cost them too much in lost productivity and down time. Just this last week an optometrist was asking me how much it would cost him to dump his PCs and switch to Macs after losing a week for one of his office girls because her computer got infected. Seems her anti-virus ware (not the one I installed for them last year, one somebody else decided to put on) got switched off...
Uh, no... Macs can run more software than PCs can, since Macs can run 100% of all Windows software but not vice verse. And in almost every TCO comparison done by independent agencies, Macs come out ahead...
There, fixed it. The trend has not been in favor of Windows.
"available software goes to PC,"
This is actually dead wrong. Macs can run all Windows software, either in a VM or via Boot Camp. PLUS they have the advantage of running MacOS and POSIX software natively. They get POSIX by virtue of the fact that MacOS is built on Unix underpinnings.
"interoperability goes to PC,"
How so? Name an interoperability flaw with Macs. Mac software, network and hardware interfaces are all standardized.
"cost goes to PC."
This one is also arguable. How much is your time worth? Plus Macs come with very good bundled applications with no Windows equivalent, and the software development tools are freely available instead of costing hundreds of dollars.
Oh yeah, and Mac resale value is also much better, so as with BMW or Mercedes the cost of ownership isn't as bad as you'd think on the face of it.
"Pretty and stylish goes to Mac."
True. I'd also add "elegant" to the mix.
My business uses both.
Two years ago, when comparing high end computers suitable for professional graphics use, I compared a custom built PC (off the shelf Dells and Acers from Best Buy just wouldn’t cut it) to a Mac Pro.
Not only did the Mac Pro multitask MUCH better than the Windows (Vista then) machine, it could even run VMWare Fusion which allowed me to run a virtual session of Windows at the same time! Since the Mac version of QuickBooks sucks, I was very happy to see that not only did the Mac allow me to run Illustrator, Photoshop, Outlook and Quickbooks at the same time, the Windows VM ran MUCH faster than Windows on the custom built PC.
The major cost difference between the two machines? Less than $200.
When you need performance, you need a Mac. When price is the major (and seemingly only) consideration stick with Windows.
BTW, most Apple users care as much about how many people use Windows as BMW users care about how many people drive Chevy’s...
