I'm always amused that at Free Republic so many folks have difficulties how other people spend their own money, if and only if they spend it on an Apple product.

No, I DON'T own an Ipad and don't know why I would but I don't own a snowmobile or an automatic Roomba vacuum either but suppose you can buy and use what you want if it's your money, and it's legal.

Apple fans wanted a Macintosh in a small tablet form while the iPad is an iPhone in a large tablet form. That’s a huge difference.

Also, as I’ve seen reported, you can’t read a book outside. How about in the window seat at Starbucks?

Why the iPad will Flop

For Apple people who have been around for a while, it just gets too funny and shows how so many of these pundits (or the self-proclaimed types, too) -- just don't understand what the consumer automatically "gets" ... :-)

We've heard ...

• Apple is going to fail
• Apple computers will never go anywhere
• iTunes will never amount to anything
• iTunes distribution of music will never be important or significant
• iMac (when it came out) will not amount to anything other than a flash in the pan
• iPhone will never sell
• iPhone is just a fad
• and now, iPad is nothing but a gimmick
• iPad will never amount to anything significant

It just goes on and on and on -- and it does so for decades on end... without fail. If there's one thing you can be sure of, is when the "nattering nabobs of negativity" get out their pens and start writing things against what Apple is doing for the consumer with their fine products -- you can be sure that those writers have no idea what they're talking about.

At least there are a few writers who have "gotten it" and are writing some sensible stuff these days, but considering how many are locked into a mentally deficient understanding of what the consumer wants, influenced by their "mentality involved with Windows" -- it's no wonder they are so surprised when the American consumer does an 'end run" around their thinking that they write in their articles ... LOL ...

I just got an email from Adobe with the title, “Your Adobe log in is now your email address.” I’m assuming it is an attempt to hack my computer, and dumped it without opening it. Anybody hear about this?

I have a very basic question, from a non techie.

Do you have to have a monthly contract to use the iPad?

Can you just use your existing internet subscription to down load stuff?

I am sure that many of you are laughing, but I know with the iPod you don't, but with the iPhone you do.
