She is not all that subtle. She is arrogant, all out of proportion to her talent, and she has NOT grown. She has NOT shared much of her soul with us, the audience. I hate to relate this to politics, but it's like Barack Obama. I am not sure he gives a hoot about anyone but himself. She seems uncomfortable within her skin and she is hiding her true self behind a dreadlocked, pierced mask.
We the audience want to love our American Idol finalists, feel that we know them, feel that we helped them get their start, feel that they really want it and are having the time of their lives getting to perform on this big state for us.
Look at Adam Lambert (forget the gay and the makeup for this moment). He could EASILY have felt he was "too good for AI" like Crystal seems to. He NEVER did. Though he too was pegged early on to win the whole thing, he contrasts in attitude with her. He was exceedingly polite with the judges. He followed their tips. He seemed to really enjoy the whole Idol scene, and unlike Crystal, he DID grow on the show, and he DID appear to be enjoying himself onstage. She doesn't. She just seems distant. That is unappealing!
Lee, last night, after singing Hallelujah, had tears in his eyes that he was trying to hide. He shyly thanked Simon for the experience. He said that when he looked out into the sea of faces, he saw people singing along, and he, himself, had a "moment." he was touched, and he truly enjoyed that experience. Wow. Who doesn't find that appealing?
I thought Bowersox probably went off stage last night, cried, and then went out to call her boyfriend to have a long and expletive-laden rant against American Idol. I am sure I am not alone for thinking that. It's the impression she gives off.
Good analysis of Bowersox. I feel the same way you do about her. A mediocre talent with a bad attitude.
He's a sweet guy....Lee...and he has a great voice I would definitely buy his CD
ALready cooked dinner....waiting for results tonight!
Adam Lambert’s got a great career going.
