She is a very closed off young woman. She has some antipathy toward the audience, as if she thinks she is too good for Idol. This shows. She also is EXACTLY the same as when she was picked from the show. She has not grown. Contrast that with Lee DeWyze, who has changed for the better immeasurably since his early shy insecure days. because of that, Crystal has impressed me a little less every week.

You really nailed it. America loves and underdog and Crystal has been favored from the start. Last night it seemed like she was phoning it in. Unless she blows it out of the water next week, I'm thinking Lee is going to win.

I am sort of giggling with fiendish glee at the thought of her having to sing that uber-cheesy finale song.

Did I miss something? I swear there was no “homecoming” sequence for Lee. All we saw was him on the plane receiving Simon’s song choice. Was there something I missed?

I couldn’t agree more. To give credit where it is due Crystal has remained true to her style and who she is. Trouble is, I just don’t like it much. Her music, fashion, attitude just isn’t my kind of thing and whatever, it’s personal preference.

However, she does exhibit this attitude, subtle though it may be, that she will get up there, do her thing but she doesn’t care that much about winning. She knows she’ll have a deal either way. I don’t like this.

We all know the top 3 or 4 will get some kind of deal regardless. But the show is about winning. People want to see someone who WANTS to win, have it mean something to them. Wanting it bad enough shows to me that the person is humble and vulnerable, not conceited and entitled. I see that in Lee. Though he may be shy and reserved, I think Hallelujah was his moment. You could tell he felt it and he wanted it.

This performance could have been the nail in Crystal’s coffin.
