That is a sweet picture and looks like a future Republican voter.

I wonder how many coal mines the muslim in the whitehouse is going to close down, after this disaster. Remember he promised to close down the coal mines, during his campaign?

He won't close a single one. Seriously. He won't.

However, they will close themselves down.

It'll go something like this:

1. United Mine Workers (part of the AFL/CIO, if I'm not mistaken), point out the need for increased safety in the mines. After all, who can be against ensuring that our mines are safe for the workers.

2. UMW petitions management for redress of grievances. Management says they understand and will work with the union. The UMW doesn't buy it. Notifies AFL/CIO.

3. Exchange of letters between AFL/CIO and the POTUS indicating the serious nature of mine work and that safety should be a prime consideration of the POTUS.

4. POTUS responds to AFL/CIO that he agrees mine safety is important, but that it needs to be dealt with at the appropriate time.

5. AFL/CIO communicates to UMW that "energy needs to be put into the issue of mine safety when engaging management."

6. UMW writes to management saying is in default of contract by failing to provide "even the most rudimentary safety for workers."

7. UMW receives letter from management saying it is willing to work with them on the issue. UMW rejects the offer, saying that the health and well being of its workers "is not negotiable."

8. UMW tells its membership that managemenet doesn't care about worker safety.

9. UMW memberships calls strike vote, which passes.

10. Further negotiations prove fruitless, UMW strikes.

11. The POTUS shuts down the strike, citing National Security.

12. AFL/CIO writes the POTUS, saying that "worker safety" is an important concern.

13. The POTUS confers with House and Senate leadership, saying that "significant parties with strong interests in the matter are demanding Federal legislation to deal with the issue of mine safety improvements."

14. The POTUS writes AFL/CIO: "We agree, mine worker safety is a paramount issue within my administration. Nothing deserves more attention that this. But now is not the time for you to take action."

15. Legislation is introduced that creates the "Mine Employees Safety, Security and Industrial Accident and Health (MESSIAH) Fund." To ensure appropriate capitalization of this fund, each employer must contribute $30,000/capita to the account per annum.

16. The POTUS writes the AFL/CIO - "we are reviewing all possible options to address your concerns viz mine safety."

17. On a party line vote, Congress approves sending the MESSIAH to the POTUS.

18. The POTUS signs off on the MESSIAH, proclaiming the good word to a weary Nation and that HE has solved the mine safety problem "once and for all".

19. Mine companies around the country announce hugh charges against income in their 10Q statements.

20. Mine companies announce they can no longer continue operation because the MESSIAH has spoken and forced them to close.

QED.
