Some random thoughts this morning...

Went to the Washington Nationals home opener on Monday. Seemed more like the Philadelphia Phillies home opener. Especially considering some 60% of the fans were from there, not Washington.

And considering we lost 11-1, probably the right mix.

But why did we lose?

Could it have been the POTUS wore a Chicago White Sox ball cap while throwing out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals ball game?

Could it have been that he gave his "Miss America" wave to the two biggest concentrations of Philly fans in the stadium?

Or was he demonstrating to the National's pitching staff (they have one?) that the correct way to pitch is to miss outside by at least 10 feet.

You would think, for just a few moments, he could have pretended to be a Nats fan.

Oh, sorry, forgot - it's all about him.

It's all about him disarming the Nation. Expecting to get reciprocity from the Rooskies ("no, B, sorry, we're going to take a pass on that disarmament thing, but you can go right ahead)? Expecting to make Iran tremble at the thought of the entire (well, almost--I suppose four warheads are aimed at N Korea, one each for Dear Leader, Son of Dear Leader, Mistress of Dear Leader, and Wife of Dear Leader...) nuclear arsenel being made available for his country ("no, B, sorry, "wait until your sweat dries and you get some experience" [ACTUAL QUOTE!]). Well, that worked out well, didn't it? Don't you just feel safer now that we cannot threaten our enemies?

Or how about the race to the bottom in the housing market? How's that working out? Yep, going to entice banks to set a bid floor for short sales, with the requirement that the first bid over the floor must be accepted, by giving banks 3 grand for each so completed transaction. Sounds nice, but what about property values? Decline in property values don't lock in until either a comp sells or your neighbor sells and the transaction is consumated. Short sales will do that, and now the Gummit has encourage that activity. Which will feed on itself. More property values will go down. More people will go under water. More banks will do short sales. More property values go down, and so on. You lose, the banks win (gee, and here I thought the POTUS was for putting the banks in their place!). But you lose TWICE! What else is based on property value? Ding, I know - property taxes! The rates will have to go up because local governments will see a cash drain based on declining values. And do you think those rates will go down later? Of course not - got to spread that wealth around. And guess what that does! Yep - depresses real estate values more. Where do I get off the merry go-round?? Doesn't anyone in this administration understand basic economics? Oh, wait, they do - it's called the economics of special interests and lobbyists (so much for their eradication, huh?)

And what about those folks wanting their free health care? That's probably next - well actually it is. Sorta kinda. It'll be the Government run single payer public option free of health health care system. And the big insurance companies are lining up to push us there with Obamacare? Why not? Don't forget how the Executive Branch spends money - only one way: through contracts. You see, with the public option, you would be buying THROUGH some bureaucrat, but the service would be provided by a contractor. And who would that be - well the big insurance companies, who else? And they would have a guaranteed monopoly because of their contract. Sweet. They win. You lose. (So much for the POTUS actually looking out for us.)

So, back to baseball...

The POTUS seeks to make things safer by negotiating a nuclear arms treaty with the Russians, but only disarms America. Strike one.

The POTUS seeks to instill confidence in home ownership by allowing folks to get out from bad mortgages, but only by ensuring there will be even more bad mortgages. Strike two.

The POTUS seeks to make health insurance work for the little guy but sets up a system that, in the end, will only benefit big insurance while screwing over patients. Strike three.

He's out.

Election day cannot get here fast enough.
