I fired up the weed whacker this morning and whacked some weeds I did. Then I hand weeded half the raspberry patch of rampant buttercup that has the most unyielding root system I have encountered. I hope to finish the other half Friday if it rains tomorrow. I did a lot of other yard chores also including making compost after wife-thing finished mowing the lawn...

Trade you some buttercups for some Florida betony!

Raspberries?! Oooohhh I LOVE raspberries. They won’t grow here. :(

Speaking of Butter cup have you ever heard of Goji Berries, good or bad? I heard it mentioned on a radio garden show last Sunday that in will grow in many regions...

Also known as ‘Wolfberry.’ I sell about 6 plants each year from a flat of 12 that I order. Not much call for them up here; I’m sure they’re more popular in other parts of the country because they are a Zone 6 perennial and we’re Zone 4/5 on a GOOD day. ;)

I pimp our Montmorency Cherry for it’s antioxidant values; you can bake a Cherry Pie that’s slightly GOOD for you! :)

If it grows 8 to 10 feet in most regions it will grow 12 to 15 as we must be zone 9. We use the Sunset zone of 17 here on Humboldt Bay. Does it have to be trained to a trellis?

Goji berries? Maybe by another name. Lots of stuff that will grow in other areas won’t do here. Too much sun, salt, sand, wind, and humidity.

But I love it! :)

Have you tried seeking counseling?

It’s a ‘vining shrub’ so it’s probably similar in habit to a Trumpet Vine or Honeysuckle Vine. IOW, weedy and invasive and will try to tear down the barn, LOL!

Rain Rain Go Away Come Again Another Day... or not! The middle of the state got most of todays rain.

At least I got the raspberries and blueberries weeded on Friday or was it Thursday. I won $1,200 at the casino today when my son and I stopped for a pit stop so a few more of those and I can buy my green house without begging.

The first local Farmers Market of the season was in Arcata Ca yesterday and I missed it as I work Saturdays until 1:30 and Arcata is 5 miles north of Eureka. Some of these farmers use grow tunnels for early crops and it sounds like they had produce ready to sell for the opening...

Things are way ahead here, too. I nearly sold out of the spring vegge plants I bought on a whim when I ordered pansies to sell.

Guess what I’m ordering more of this morning? LOL!

Tons. This ONE link shows all the sponsors involved in this from WI just for Nature Areas on school grounds. There are many others that sponsor plain old food gardens, and my company donates quite a number of plants to community and church gardens in the area. I’m planning that Kitchen Garden for Edgewood College this season. I think I lost the local contract with a HHS Nurse who is planting in courtyards for local low-income housing. Yep, those people are REALLY going to be interested in picking elderberries and rhubarb, etc. Not. (Too much work to feed yourself. Why bother when Mother Government will feed ya for free while you sit around the courtyard?) *Rolleyes*

I buy product (plants) from a numner of these people for my store, too.

Secondly, when I’m too old to lift a hoe, I’m going to offer my 1/4 acre garden up as plots for people to rent out. I figure I can get some entertainment out of it, teach some youngin’s something, and get all the free fresh veggies I can swipe under cover of darkness, LOL!

‘Granny? How come my ‘mater production is so low?’ ROFLMAO!
