NEW DELHI (Associated Press) -- For nearly 30 years, India and Bangladesh have argued over control of a tiny rock island in the Bay of Bengal. Now rising sea levels have resolved the dispute for them: the island's gone.
New Moore Island in the Sunderbans has been completely submerged, said oceanographer Sugata Hazra, a professor at Jadavpur University in Calcutta. Its disappearance has been confirmed by satellite imagery and sea patrols, he said.

Don’t mention “hurricane” because then Al Gore and friends will start on global warming being the cause of the “island” forming in the first place.
Bush’s fault. Women and children most affected.
Atlantis was the first casualty of man made global warming.
God help me. I did a search on disappearing islands and came up with this...

What is puzzling is did the ocean rise that much along the Indian shore? Like how high was the island? Five hundred feet? If so, why hasn’t the water in their harbors, shoreline, etc risen as well?
Of course the recurring Indian Ocean earthquakes had nothing to do with the disappearance...
We do coastal restoration with used Christmas trees. (Can I use that word? Christmas?) Second phase is planting sea grass on resilted areas. Seemed to hold up well after storm surge from hurricanes caused by global warming predicted by Al Gore although really Bush’s fault...
At one time Britain and the continent of Europe were connected by land.
Rising sea levels created what is now known as the English Channel.
Cave men and their families and pet dinosaurs could drive their SUVs on land from southern Britain to northern France for a picnic.
The burning of fossil fuels in their SUVs caused the sea level to rise, cutting Britain off from the continent until the building of the Chunnel in modern times.
I’m sure the burning of coal to heat the caves also played a part in the rising sea levels.
Gotta call the BS on this one. Rock islets and sand banks disappear and reappear all the time as do other small islands and of course volcanic islands and atolls.
So, 10 years ago, this island was 2 inches or less above sea level? Some island.
Actually they just reopened the entrance to the neolithic chunnel. A nice bit of archeology that, what for, pip pip cheerio.
If want to read something funny go to Yahoo and read the comments associated with this story. What a bunch of dimwits. How could anyone with a brain believe this is caused by GW.

It's amazing to me how the older generation that created the policies that have led to these problems now want to bury their heads and just wait out their time on this planet pretending that nothing's wrong.
I am going to continue "pretending nothing is wrong" just to pi$$ Buddy off.
Al Gore obviously visited that island.
I’m with you!
