While downloading and installing (for my daughter) the free security suite offered by Cablevision to their subscribers, I noticed something which really annoyed me.
In setting up the configuration I chose to have the warning for objectionable sites activated. After I completed the configuration on all the aspects of the security suite I decided to go to the FR and see what was going on to begin the day. After typing the name in the search and punching go, I immediately was blocked by a pop up informing me that Free Rep was not available as it was a "hate site" and would require a password over ride. Amazed, I then entered "Democrat Underground" and after that "Daily Kos" and was allowed to navigate to those sites.
Those of you with Cablevision may want to do as I did and call customer service with a threat to cancel immediately all services if their parental control portion of the security suite is not immediately modified to remove FR as a "hate" site.
Nothing on the union blog re: free republic. Means nothing one way or the other.
This topic is really about who controls the internet. This may be an early step. This should be pinged cuz it's not just about New Jersey imo.
Yeah, and the flip side is, there are people out there with agendas who will deliberately misconstrue posts to slime FR. You know, folks like you, Bob.
Nobody has to misconstrue anything. 98% of the postings are innouous, political mishmash but that 2% is what’s going to kill FR everytime it’s “representatives” debate about it being a “hate site” or not.
And anybody who believes it won’t effectively be bludgeoned that way are not seeing the threads in question or have blinded themselves to the truth.
I’m not saying FR is a hate site, I’m saying there are some hateful people here that for some reason don’t have their posts pulled or accounts removed. Maybe it’s too big a job for the mods. In any event there was a time when I would publically defend FR against such accusations but not now, There are just too many ugly incidents in the archives to make a credible case.
And that’s the fact no matter how much it hurts.
Get over youself, Bob. Critics have always bashed FR no matter what is posted here or how it is moderated. And now you’ve joined the bashers.

Well, it’s a big jump from anti-freeper sites to BOR. When the national semi-conservative media starts bashing you it’s time to take a look at you’re methods and procedures...if only to see if there is something you’ve overlooked.

Next time you quote me why no try quoting the whole sentence.

You see, this is what you’re up against. It doesn’t matter that it was 2 posts or 200. The goal on O’reilly should not have been to play defense and try to convince BOR that you’re not a hate site because that was an impossible task due to the nature of the beast. The goal should have been to prove hateful posts can make it through even the most ardent security to prevent such posts reaching the web.
If I were involved in that imbroglio I would have spent a as much time as needed to show “hateful” postings getting through “innocent” bulletin boards including BOR’s site.
At that point you destroy the premise of the incorrect conclusion and leave BOR mumbling in a dumpster.
But that’s just me, I don’t play defense.
You’re post stands as an attempt to mischaracterize what I said in an attempt to discredit me by giving readers half the information needed to make an informed opinion.

Some of the most hateful people I see on this website are those that profess to be the most Christian. Sometimes our frustration with what is going on in the world manifests itself in comments that break this 11th commandment. If FR wants to be the light that comes out from underneath the bushel then it's creator needs to guide it according to accordingly.
