Thought this was worth a posting to remind us all that The General did not only distinguish himself on the battlefield. While no great orator, he could write beautifully.

George Washington’s Farewell Address to the American people was read annually in Congress for decades. Finally, about fifteen years ago, this tradition quietly ended. Democrats (mistly) and Republicans (some) wanted to stop the implied criticism of what they were doing with the Constitution we were given.
