You missed the entire point. If Mormons were on FreeRepublic spouting that stuff, I would be equally POed with them...We'd all be better off if we save that for after we've defeated our common enemy, or for discussions that occur outside of FreeRepublic. [fr_freak]

What a huge assumption...that our battlefronts initiated by others (in this case the Mormons in their 180-year attack to label all Christians as "apostates" "corrupt" heart-drifters, a dead church, a Satanic church & 100% creedally abominable) are to be narrow now & can be expanded @ some future unknown point...perhaps when more marginal Christians have been taken in by Mormonism's next million missionaries.

As for me, I like Mormons even if I don't agree with their view on God. And, I will always have respect for them and be grateful to them for their help on the Prop 8 stand here in CA. I didn't see other denominations stepping up en masse like they did. [fr_freak]

It divides us when we should be united against our common enemies. I used to recommend FR to my conservative Mormon friends. But the increased attacks and hostility towards anything Mormon has sent them all away. [Spiff]

Are both of your heads in the sands? Do I have to keep repeating myself? I told Reno232, an Lds poster, almost 6 months ago that...Lds & Christians did accomplish Prop 8 together. And... [I'd add to both to both of you now...lah tee dah...] we did it w/out lopsidedly asking a few dozen FREEPERS to lay down their keyboards all the while 60,000 [editorial note...now down to 53,000] Lds missionaries maneuvered around the world without dropping their white shirts, ties, backpacks & bikes.

Bottom line: Bikes="old-tech" proselytization vs. keyboards="new-tech" evangelism. [Sorry, fr_freak, but evangelism isn't @ your beck & call to treat as some outgrowth of socio-political big tentism]

I asked Reno232 then: what would be your regional mission president's response if I said to him: "Hey, can we accomplish something together, or would it be better without the Christians? Your sending so many Lds missionaries to Christian homes lead(s) me to believe you feel it’s better without??? Don't you see how lopsided your appeal is for Christians to drop their "Great Commission" of Matthew 28 -- all the while Lds missionaries march on minus missing a step?...I already said that Christians & Mormons -- to some degree -- already agree on issues & values & work together.

The example I then gave Reno was that a Christian Boy Scout leader can work side-by-side with a Mormon Boy Scout leader for the betterment of our teens. We don't have to put down our Bibles & the Mormon doesn't have to put down their BoM. Yet, it seems some here want unilateral disarmament of both -- all while the typical Lds philosophy continues to be deployed: "Speak softly [on FR threads] and carry a big Pearl of Great Price & Doctrine & Covenants stick in every other venue!"

Definition of this 'stick':
"You Christian sects are 100% wrong;
100% apostates;
100% creedally putrid;
100% corrupt as believers...
implied as a false & dead church...
heart-drifters
the church of Satan
...Signed: Cordially, your "nice" Mormon neighbor - all while Mormons go on bashing Christians worldwide on doorsteps & porches, online on Lds.org, in their curricula, in their translated quad "Scriptures," in their Ensign mag articles, etc.

Ol' Jim allows that, [religious postings] presumably because the Judeo-Christian belief system is a huge part of American conservatism, but our primary purpose here is not to iron out all of the disagreements about scripture...inter-denominational backbiting...other denominations.. [fr_freak]

Fr_freak...why do you keep assuming that Mormons simply regard themselves as one Christian denomination among many? Go ahead. Ask them. Their leaders have said, that no, they do NOT consider themselves to be a Protestant break-off denomination. They're not Catholic. They're not Orthodox. They consider themselves as "restorationists." What does that mean?

(1) That means they believe everybody is as spiritually dead as a doornail. [And was for 1500-1800 years]
(2) It also means they deem themselves as the "only true and living church upon the faith of the earth." What? Do you think I just made that quote up? (Nope). It's in their unique "scriptures" (not the Bible). Doctrine & Covenants 1:30. [Note also 1 Nephi 14:9-10, in the Book of Mormon, which claims there's only two churches -- the church of the Lamb -- which I'm sure all Mormons believe is the Mormon church -- & the other one to which all other churches would thereby fall under this umbrella -- the church of Satan.]

Now are you serious, Fr_Freak and Spiff. You really think that Mormons, all as they circulate information worldwide that all other churches operate under the umbrella of the church of Satan, that the "key" goal is to present ourselves to Muslims as a "united front." Muslims call Christians "infidels" and Mormons label us "apostates." (Come on, now...what's the difference? We as Christians sure can't tell?) Just because a few Lds FReepers are trying their best manner-wise to refrain from mentioning what's actually contained in their "unique scriptures" equates to your free pass, fr_freak??? (give me a break)

What you've both seemingly failed to realize is what I told Reno232...And I ask BOTH of you, Spiff & Fr_freak...the same Q's I asked him (see bold-faced below): that Joseph Smith's first vision already attempted to squeeze our neck veins into breathing silence. He dug a gigantic graveyard for the Christian church, declared our...
...joinability null & void,
...ALL our creeds as an "abomination" to his god,
...and the heritage of our professing believers as 100% corrupt
The real questions here are "Do you & all FR Mormons agree with these three Smithian assessments of Christians & the Christian church?"...
Bottom line: Are you telling us that a few dozen FREEPER critiques keeps us from working together opposing same-sex marriage or abortion or socialistic health care --something apparently you can't tolerate -- but then we're just supposed to 100% ignore Joseph Smith's omnipresent scathing critique of us? (Especially if you're in league with Smith on those views)

Good points. Bears repeating...
