FreeRepublic censorship?

I am a bit bothered by this repeated encounter with censorship on your site. This is the second time that I have encountered censorship on your site. The first time was when I was removed from being allowed to post for expressing that FOX News does not represent true conservatism, and it doesn’t.

John Robinson sent me one kind email saying that the reason was that they typically get trolls and identify them for attacking FOX News. The second email that came from John immediately after was that he wished me the best of luck if I tried to expose the censorship on FreeRepublic against conservatives that apparently exists if you do not bow to the current politicians in power and owe your loyalty to the now less than conservative Republican party. That was rather rude, but I did not pay it much mind.

Today I was surfing and came across a site I do not agree with on all levels, but tried to make a post about some revealing facts that presented on their site about the perversity of Disney.

What was the result of my trying to make this post?

I got a message saying the source was not welcome on FreeRepublic.

As a conservative who would put any average Republican to shame with my traditional values and economic view that makes Reagan look like a two-bit haircut in a black and white movie, I would love to hear why this one is censored. And, as I told John, I can easily take these issues straight to conservatives who do not feel that Club GOP represents conservatism on the Internet with my web development skills.

Here is what I tried to post

I also just noticed that your site has made it impossible to highlight text in fields for posting in trying to copy and paste this link. On the one hand, I do believe in driving out stupidity from the Internet. On the other hand, I believe that only liberal leftist propaganda need be removed. I am beginning to wonder what makes FreeRepublic think that one conservative is acceptable rather than another. I think that conservatives like me would be interested to know the limitations you have obviously coded into publication on your site.

As I said, I do not agree with everything I read on the site I tried to link, but they did a very good job of exposing Disney on the link above.

Think about it.

Marxist, as in doctrinaire, rigid, concerned with ideological purity.

Marxism believed in the ultimate ‘withering away of the state’. That there would, eventually, be no need for the very existence of the state.

I’d say about half of all conservative do, and have and always will support strong, omi present state intervention, size and power. Whom are the ‘true’ conservatives, isn’t clear.

Every American has the right to lawful free speech in the public forum. When a government attempts to deny you this right, you have a case of censorship.

Every American has the right to control the speech and other behavior of persons on his or her private property. When a property owner objects to the speech and other behavior of persons on that property, he or she has the right to demand that you conform to his or her standards of behavior or leave.

FreeRepublic.com is not a public forum. It is private property. Its owners have every right to limit your speech when you are on the site. If you refuse to conform to those limitations, you will be asked to leave. It’s really that simple.

Censorship is when the government limits speech. This is a private site and the OWNER gets to say what is and isn’t permissible. A CONSERVATIVE would understand that.

Feel free to set up your own web site.

Censorship? Nah. Free Republic is a pretty rough and tumble place. You don't seem very rough. Or tumble.

Are you leaving us? Please write an extensive open letter to us if you do. We love those. And they are almost never censored.

I don't think I'll be returning to FR after the rude responses I got on this thread.

Hey, you're the one making a big whiny deal about the site owner telling you some things are not welcome in his home. Door is thataway.

I realize that it’s Hell to be 17, virginal, and over-mothered.

Nevertheless, my advice to you is to move on.

“Mitt is a dope.”

Well, NOW you are contributing something useful.

Bottom line, this is Jim Robinson’s site and he can decide what content is allowed. It is fine to express your disagreement with him privately or in a different forum. But, repeatedly posting content he has deemed unfit is disrespecting him and his private property.

Reagan only reduced taxes to a mere relative twenty percent, and for the glory he received for that I think that is a shame to consider him a conservative icon. What’s the matter? Never had anyone tell you that what you believe is misled before?

That's a pretty big head you got there, comparing yourself to Ronald Reagan. I mean he defeated comunism and you posted on Free Republic.

I wish I could live in the fantasy world you do.

...or maybe not...since in your world there are no conservatives.

Fox News isn’t a conservative site. It doesn’t claim to be. It doesn’t try to be. It is Fair and Balanced, get it? The only cable news service that shows both sides, which puts it miles ahead of CNN and MSNBC.
