What, if anything, does “Uffda!” mean in Swedish?

I think it's supposed to be "ofta" which means "often".

Hmm, that doesn't work. From the context I thought it meant something like "How annoying!" or "That's disgusting!" I guess it will have to remain a mystery. Thanks anyway.

Not Swedish - It is Norwegian-American for "Oy Vey".

Uff da!, as I understand it, does not have a literal translation into English (a classic case of “losing something in the translation”), but I knew a Swedish girl at work some years ago who was adamant that, given the proper context and the situation you found yourself in, it was correct and acceptable (!) for it to mean...
