BOSTON (WBZ) ―
The state medical examiner has ruled the death of Nancy Kerrigan's father a homicide.
70-year-old Daniel Kerrigan died last month after what authorities say was a violent struggle with his son, Mark Kerrigan.
In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said:
"The Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was cardiac dysrhytmia following a physical altercation with neck compression causing injury to the neck in the form of a cartilage fracture to the larynx area, in a person with hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular heart disease."
Family members had said he died of an unrelated heart attack.
45-year-old Mark Kerrigan has pleaded not guilty to assault.
"As a result of these conclusions of the Medical Examiner, the investigation into Daniel Kerrigan's death, and whether any charges in connection with his death are appropriate, remains ongoing," Leone said Tuesday.
This is just weird...

Wow! That is strange. I thought he had a heart attack.
Nancy seemed like such a sweetheart. Then to get busted in the kneecaps by Tanya Harding and now likely to lose both your dad and brother. I’d like to reach out and give her a hug.
Well it sounds like this injury led to the heart attack. Wonder what the charge should be - voluntary man slaughter I guess...I don’t think he had any intention of killing him but sounds like the son was some kind of a loser and his prospects are dimmer than ever.
Wow.
I never thought much of her when she was having an affair with a married man but i would not wish this on anyone.....I feel sorry her mom and Nancy....
