Boeing 747-8 just lifted off!!

Posted on 02/08/2010 1:21:01 PM PST by clippedwing

No source link or pics....sorry.

Just saw it myself. Big white and beautiful. Lifted off from Paine field runway 34L and departed the pattern to the north disappearing through low clouds.

Two chase planes off the right wing. I counted 4 news helicopters hovering for the event.

Neat-o!

I will be gone from work here at BFI by the time it lands but I heard it will also land at Paine Field. You can track it here also.

I hope Boeing moves all those WA state jobs to SC because unions are killing Boeing. Boeing needs to be in a right-to-work state.

A relative has a friend in WA state who owns a business and voted for Obama. His business is almost dead and he hates Obama now. His business was thriving when Bush was President.

What is a 747-8? Carbon-fiber 747?

Of course. They don’t do anything but complain until it hits them in the pocket, then it hits home. Here we are shouting out the warnings before the election and not many listened. Some did, but not enough.

Slightly stretched, next-gen engines.. I think a little more composites, but not anywhere to the extent of the 787.

A 747 with 787 technology. Completely new wing. A lot of carbon fiber. Interior that is mind blowing. New more efficient engines. 17feet longer than 747-400.....

Track it in real time:

Sorta ironic, coming on the same day that UPS announces furlough of 300 pilots.
