After tasting 37 different blended coffees, Consumer Reports couldn't find one that measured up to its "excellent" or "very good" ratings, the publication said Tuesday.

Tell me about the percolator. Is it really better?
Out here in the Midwest boonies, our store-bought coffee selection is pretty limited. The Eight-O-Clock varieties are slim, what with Original, Colombian and French Roast being about it. And price-wise, there’s no comparison.
If I do stop at a Caribou, it’ll be for a latte instead of straight coffee. I’ve discussed our tastes and what we drink at home with their sales people, taken their advice, and come away unimpressed every time. The same can be said for Starbucks (which I refuse to patronize any longer). So, we stick with our Eight-O-Clock. Too bad you can’t get it there.
Not to be too obnoxious, but there is no “u” in “Colombian.”
Many years ago I stopped at some dive cafe on the way to New Orleans. I am not sure but I think it was either just before or just after the bridge or causeway or whatever over Lake Ponchetrain heading into the city. I just have a memory of it being sort of below the raised road.
Anyway, I wasn't even a big coffee drinker then but whatever came in that cup was a little bit of HEAVEN! I was told that it had chickory in it.
I have spent the last 30 years yearning for that coffee. I love coffee now, especially nice, strong, dark roast but never have I come even close to that one cup of perfection.
“Dunkin Donuts for me!”
Me too although I will drink McDonald’s when away from home. I buy the 5 lb Dunkin Decaf whole beans and have it delivered. I love it!
Does anyone drink Luzianne coffee? That was all my Mom and Dad used to make. Their coffee pot was on until after dinner everyday since they always had people and neighbors dropping by. If I remember, it also had chicory in it. If I ever see it again, I will buy some just so I can savor the memories of all those cups of coffee on Mom and Dad’s porch and in their kitchen!! Mom bought all of us our own cup with our names on it! I still use mine. It must be 30 plus years old!

Coffee and Chicory is about $4+ a 13 oz bag here. Don’t know anyone who can mail you some? If you order online you’ll pay three times that, but you can get it. 30 years is a long wait for a good cup of coffee!
I’ll have to try this. Jamaican Blue Mountain at 29 bucks a pound is good ... if a little steep.
I like Peet’s Colombian. I used to like Dunkin Donuts, but after Peet’s, Dunkin tastes like diner coffee to me.
I heard Peet’s is a Starbucks brand. Do you know if that’s correct?
Luzianne is good coffee. Saw some in the supermarket yesterday, about $4-5 a bag. My preference is Cafe du Monde, Luzianne and Community with chicory. The online prices are ridiculous. I’m thinking I could make a killing buying coffee locally and shipping it out for far less than anywhere online- lol.
When I worked the tri-border area (Brazil-Paraguay-Argentina), I used to buy Lamphroaig for $7. Man those were good years. As for coffee, its either Sidamo or Yemeni for me.
Absolutely not!
Peet's is based in California.
Starbucks owns Seattle's Best (still operating under that name) and Coffee People (rebranded to Starbucks).
Agreed...when traveling, I need McDonald’s coffee!
Let me clarify...did a little research. Years ago, there was a connection. One of the partners owned parts of both Peet’s and Starbucks, but sold off Starbucks in the 1980s to focus on Peet’s.
Drinking a large D&D as I read this post.
On my second cup!
Fresh Beans ground
I like the Colombian too. However Maxwell House has a new one I like better, South Pacific Blend. I’ve switched to that. $7/39oz. at Wal-Mart.
