The rumors were true, Constellation is cancelled. No Ares 1 crew vehicle, no Ares V heavy lifter, no Altair lander. No bases on the Moon, and no human exploration of Mars. NASA is canceling the human return to the Moon.

Good.

Obama wants to slow down manned exploration just as he wants with defense acquisitions. I’m not surprised. It’s up to Congress to put manned space exploration back in the budget.

There aint nothing there.
In 1968 as a kid with hormones working overtime I was hoping, uh noooo, praying for the discovery of beautiful Moon Maidens and what did we get? Grey dust and rocks.

If there is something of value under all that dust, let entrepreneurs from the private sector go find it, bring it back, and get rich on it. That's the American way.

Now what part of the Galaxy are the green Orion Slave Girls located? There is still hope for mankind.

...And half of this is a mental game; you win the information war in the minds of customers through FUD – Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

If I thought this way I would be a freaking basket case by the age of thirteen but this guy would only use that as an excuse. Remote toe-sensing technology my rearend.

Richard Hoagland long-time space fanatic dating from the first Moon landing, and he was Walter Cronkite's science adviser, was just sure now that we had an intelligent president that it would be "boldly going where no one has gone before." He was giddy during has last appearance on George Norry's popular late-night show CoastToCoastAM when the NASA study was just getting underway.

Obama is not like that stupid George Bush, said Mr. Hoagland, perhaps said to impress Norry who absolutely hates the Bush family.

Mr. Hoagland should have remembered the 1960s. Since when did a street organizer want to spend a dime on space?

“It’s up to Congress to put manned space exploration back in the budget.”

And they will. In a bill worded such a way as to allow Husssein to veto it.

Hoagland was good in his early stuff, but hen he went so far off the deep end that only a pretzel could follow his ‘logic’.

He is enamored of any democrate president - he thought billy boy was the cat’s meaow. He will defend Hussein’s decision, saying something like the Bush conspiracy forced Hussein’s into that position due to the NeoCon’s control of weather machines which will hit New Orleans again unless Hussein does as he’s told. And then go on to graphicaly describe Hyperdimensional physics which the NeoCons control.

My Proposal,

Take half the budget for Social Program Spending and invest in in a crash program for lunar manufacturing via robotics and manned colonization. Take the other half of the social program spending and cut it entirely. We can actually SAVE money this way and have the High Frontier and employ smart people instead of paying navel gazing morons not to work.

I’d go for that, but, as I said somewhere else, it would clash with Hussein’s beloved vision of dusty villages.

Personally, I’d like the Republicans or whatever conservative group emerges to make something like that a national GOAL. Not a one-off sop to various constituent groups.
