When I was a little girl in grade school,
We would all decorate a shoe box
and put a little slit on the top.
On the night before Valentine's Day
We would punch out Valentines from a sheet.
(Like the one above).
I remember the hours spent,
Making sure that I would chose and address the right card
For the right student.
The next day, we would all drop those special cards
Into our classmate's pretty boxes.
And, I made sure that no boy
Would get a card with the word "love" on it!
