One thing and one thing only is preventing the space aliens from invading immediately and becoming our new overlords: global warming.

It’s noncanon. I remember them using it in the novels to explain how “Zefram Cochrane of Alpha Centauri” could be right next door, but by 1996 they decided Cochrane just settled there after developing warp drive in Montana.

Which part of that did you not understand?

Which part of that did you not understand? I forget the exact circumstances, but either they got into a world war, and buried their communication links so that the “other side” wouldn’t be able to intercept any transmissions, or they became afraid that hostile extra-centauri intelligences might overhear them, and so buried their civilization so they wouldn’t be attacked.

NOBODY with the brains and talent to need to communicate across cosmic distances would do so with radio waves or any other sort of electromagnetic radiation. What should they use?

Hopefully theyre dumb, edible, and slow. When they see our broadcasts of American Idol, Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars, and Survivor, they will realize we are dumb, edible, and slow. Let's hope they are not hungry, spacefaring, and determined.

It doesnt really make any sense that they would be using radio. Space is radio signal noisy. My understanding is that there are certain radio wavelengths at which space is not "noisy", so to speak, and these are the ones that SETI listens to.

Don’t Worry Bout it...Al Gore will always remain in constant communication with the aliens...

What SHOULD they use? The one thing which propogates instantaneously to within our ability to measure it is gravity and the closest thing to a decent explanation of what gravity is, is Ralph Sansbury’s description of gravity and sub-electron particles. The computed necessary speed of a sub-electron particle would get you to one of the near galaxies in a couple of seconds. Anything which anybody with the brains and talent to communicate across cosmic distances would actually use would likely have to involve those kinds of particles.

“Dr Frank Drake said transmission of signals into space was being cut by the digital revolution. “
What an ignorant idiot the “Dr.” is. Digital transmissions are analogue signals. Cell phones, 802.11 wireless, satellite TV, etc, are all analogue transmissions. We have more transmissions than ever before.
The guy is a UFO moron.
