I've thought that for quite a while, although I can't say anything in response to your post without first mentioning that Cowherd is a dork who's stolen every coherent thought he's ever had.

Manning is pretty much the coach of the offense, in addition to being the QB.

Oh, I agree on Cowherd. I just happened to agree with him this time.

It’s something I’ve only come to think recently. I’m usually pretty big on the fact that football is a team sport and that no one player is that important, no matter how famous he is. Manning is just on an entirely different level, though. I’d say he’s reinventing the position, except I don’t think anyone else can play quarterback the way he does, or will in the foreseeable future.

The proposition of football as a team sport is redeemed, though, by the fact that Manning has one Super Bowl ring instead of ten. There’s no question in my mind that he is a far better player than Brady, but Brady has had far better teams around him. Just look at how well the Patriots played last year without him.
