There was no cheap shot, just a sound block.

Agree with everything else you said, but I think the hit was done with serious malice aforethought.

I watched the replay several times in slow motion, and it's pretty clear that it was something more than just a block.

...football is like growing old; it ain’t for sissies. ;)

Do tell. I used to play once upon a time, and I well know how brutal the game is.

That said, I don't disagree with Warner being hit. Just thought it was over the top.

Ok..so let me get this straight...they are now playing the Pro Bowl one week before the Super Bowl...um, what genius decided that? No players from the two best teams in the league will play in it...only in the NFL.

The hit Warner took from #83 of the Saints defense near the end of the 2nd quarter was shameful, in my opinion.

I don't know how old you are, but in the days of the old NFL that would just have been considered a great hit. I'm not dissing you or anything, but it is a significant change in fan attitudes from years past. Probably 75% of the highlight reel tackles from the 70s would be penalties today.

Wow, could the Saints receivers be any more open? Cards D was going to lose this game, Warner or no Warner.

Saints start at the 40, another Rackers screw-up.

Ain't no doubt. The Cards are getting their butts whipped. No excuses.

I will say that the Card's back-up quarterback looked good right there at the end of the half.

>>Looked to me like the defender was trying to knock Warner out of the game.<<

That was a 100% legit hit. Any defender who doesn’t try to know the opposing QB into next week on an interception isn’t doing his job.

This isn’t ice dancing.

(ps: I am rooting for AZ and am a big Warner fan).

True. The pro bowl ratings were for cr@p, and most of the players from the Super Bowl were begging off, anyway. The NFL decided to use the game to fill the week in between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. If we remember that the game is first and foremost a money making exercise, it makes sense.

I guess it depends on what his level of participation was. From what I saw of Lewis’ trial it was peripheral at the most and he was acquitted. Vick was an active participant who personally committed the acts, so yeah count me in with the “Peta Punks.”

Trial? I though Lewis pled to a reduced charge?

Hey, don't try to confuse things by presenting facts.

Well, I'm old enough to remember those days. I've always loved the sheer roughness of the sport, but I've never liked actual malice in the game.

I'm not for pansi-fying the game, either. I just hate to see thuggishness rule the day.

Now that I think of it, Lewis may have pled halfway through the trial.
