While I do have borderline high BP, the reason I don't eat salt is that it has always made me swell, there is no alternative for that other than cutting out as much salt as I can. Any time you eat processed foods you are going to ingest some sodium even in low sodium products, so I don't see really believe I need to worry about a health hazard concerning that.

My main gripe is with restaurants that over-salt food like french fries. There is no reason they need to pour so much salt on a batch of fries that it makes my mouth burn to eat them and it isn't like it isn't poured on after cooking, which you could do on your own if you like that much salt. Those places are mainly staffed with teenagers who usually can't get the order right the first time anyway and asking for a special order that might inconvenience them these days is just daring someone to spit on your hamburger. So, yes, I would like to see restaurants voluntarily make policies to cut back on excessive salt.

The swelling is a kidney issue, and a serious one. You need more competent medical help than you’re getting.
