not only is FR slow but everytime I click on refresh I get a quick flash picture of Harry Reid

Is it the same Reid pic that I posted?

If they are bringing back the Begathon you just know that the Boy King will make a guest appearance. Ugh.

I hadn't thought of that :-|

Knowing his ego, he won't be content with the pre-taped video segment. He'll want to make a live appearance on stage, claim the begathon was all his idea and that people around the world are more generous now that he's president.

Hi, all. Had to record the show last night and just finished watching.

Could someone explain the early process to me? I’m a newbie...have watched on and off over the years. Last year I got hooked, but only after they got down to 12. I’ve never watched the auditions round (didn’t know what I was missing!)

Once they “go to Hollywood”, how do they go through so many people so quickly? Would appreciate a short lesson in how it works at this stage. Thanks!

These people that cry — how can they be that self-delusional?

Exactly what I said when we were watching just now. No matter what I think I sound like, we have all seen for years that this panel of judges can decipher a diamond in the rough from a nervous accapella young singer in jeans and sneakers. If they say I stink, man, I STINK. What idiots to go on out of there and be so SURE that the judges are wrong.

It's like Engrish (see engrish.com). Though my Japanese is not good enough for me to write product copy or signage, at least I do not ATTEMPT to do it. The kind of confidence these copywriters have in Asia bears absolutely no resemblance to their actual English language abilities.

The judges can actually see his boat from the window.

Thus the window is real and not a "Frasier apartment" view.

Can you explain the difference between the cattle calls and the TV auditions? Does EVERYONE in those stadiums get seen by a producer, and the best (or worst) get forwarded on to the TV auditions??

I’ve only been to a “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader” auditions, and there were 3 main callbacks, but there were not the quantity of people as Idol has. I can’t believe a full stadium of people gets heard.

We always know they’re going through if they have a touching story ;)

Yep. How can they tell her no after seeing her grandma. Who only speaks Portugese. Who is her granddaughter's biggest fan. And Who has Alzheimer's.

All that, plus the girl is extremely cute--it almost didn't matter if she can sing!

Yes, I'm getting cynical :)

The other times they did it, I managed to coincidentally have other plans. Crossing my fingers I can do it again this year! ;-)

You're going to be sick that night aren't you, LOL

I'll have to watch millionaire celebrities sobbing over African kids all by myself :(

Good morning Jonny

the picture of Reid I kept getting last night looked like one from Drudge, and I got it even without being on FR, don’t know what it was but it’s gone this morning.

I suspect some wacky tobacky was involved.

Definitely. You know he smells like Otto's jacket. ;-)

When we see them in the stadium, each person sings in front of someone from the AI staff. Then from there, people who are either good singers or good TV can move on to the Simon, Randy, Kara round. Those judges give the Hollywood yes or no.

Usually less then 200 people are picked to move on to Hollywood. In Hollywood they sing individually and in groups. Multiple people are eliminated at once several times each day. They get it down to about 50.

In the last few years, they have done this episode where the top 50 meet individually with the judges and find out if they are in the top 24. We call it the Elevator Episode (because they are constantly shown riding up to the room in an elevator).

When the top 24 are selected, that is when the audience can start voting. It’s again knocked down to 12 people and that is when they go to the big stage.

I won't be sick, but I may need to make an emergency trip to Super Wal-Mart and Sonic for a jr. Oreo sundae and a diet cherry limeade. And you are never alone on FR!

Thanks so much for taking the time to bring me up to speed.

I hesitated to ask...feeling like those stupid man-on-the-street people who can’t identify which party controls congress!
