American Idol’s Chikezie’s All Too Easy Arrest
http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b169108_american_idols_chikezies_all_too_easy.html
Get a whiff of this.
Something rotten went down in Beverly Hills last night when former American Idol finalist Chikezie Eze was busted at Neiman Marcus for allegedly using a fake credit card to buy some cologne.
According to police, the popular Idol wannabe was collared by security after attempting to purchase two bottles of men’s fragrance using a flagged credit card. No word what brand he was buying. (50 Cent’s Power scent perhaps?)
In any case, Beverly Hills cops came and booked him for felony identity theft. Chikezie posted $50,000 bail and the matter is under further investigation.
The 24-year-old former airport screener, who placed 10th on the seventh season of Idol, later told reporters the whole thing was a mistake and he wasn’t using a stolen card.
We’ll see if he changes his tune before his next court date, scheduled for Monday.
Elliott!!!! TG he is safe.
rob, any eyewitness accounts?
Picked up Danny Gokey’s album “My best Days” this weekend. here is a little mini-review for those interested.
Personally, I love the album, I am a Danny Gokey fan and I like his voice. His voice is well suited for country music. That said, I have to be brutally honest here, there are a few gems on this album, but unless you are a Gokey fan or a big country music fan, there is little reason for you to buy this album. it is not going to be a huge crossover success ala Carrie Underwood. it is more in line with former Idol singers like Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington, and Josh Gracin.
As I said, I like the album, and there are a few songs I really think could be successful for him, but bottom line - you could hear the same thing on hundreds of other country albums by myriad other singers in the country genre. There really is no huge breakout song or anything wonderously unique to grab the casual listener. This is just an album of mainstream country that does not transcend or push the boundaries of the genre in any direction.
Here are the nuggets that do exist in the album however:
1. I Will Not Say Goodbye - this is an homage to Danny’s wife, and anyone who knows the story or has lost a loved one will connect with this song. In my opinion this should be the next single released. It is a heart felt ballad and is Danny at his best. A truly wonderful song.
2. Get Away - this is the only true rollicking “country-rock” song on the album. it is a fun song and is very much in the Trace Atkins/Toby Kieth style of music. It stands out from the rest of the album and that is a good thing.
3. My Best Days are Ahead of Me - Nice upbeat tempo, and Danny sounds great. Just a cool feel good song.
4. Life On Ya - Another fun song that is just catchy enough to get you tapping your toes and singing along. Not sure it is good enough to be a charting single, but it is a fun song to listen to and sing along to in the car.
The rest of the album is a mish-mash of standard “new Country” songs that would be filler on albums all across the genre. Not bad songs by any means, Danny sounds great, but they are not great songs that would stand alone. I would rate a trio: “Like It’s A Bad Thing”, “It’s Only”, and “Be Somebody” as above average but not earth-shattering in any sense, and then the final three songs as MEH filler: “I Still Believe” (written by Kara DioGuardi by the way), “Tiny Life”, and “Crazy Not To”.
A good, not great, debut album for Danny. I like it, and recommend it to any and all Danny Gokey/Country Music fans; but would advise all others to listen to some of the songs online before buying it. Bottom line: I see middle of the road success along the lines of Bucky or Josh, maybe a little behind Kellie P.
Thanks for your review. Hope he does well.
Sure sounds like he was.
American Idol: Elliott Yamin Survives Earthquake in Chile
The world was stunned to witness the devastation of an 8.8 earthquake that hit Chile on Saturday, but American Idol fans will be relieved to know that season five runner-up, Elliott Yamin is among the survivors! The singer, in Chile for a music festival, has been tweeting about the chaos, destruction, and fear thats been surrounding him
American Idols Elliott Yamin is among the lucky ones. The singer was on the sixth floor of his hotel in Chile when the 8.8-scale quake shook the nation. Almost immediately after, the American Idol alum tweeted, Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!..I swear this was the end of my life! F***!!!!..I just escaped with my life.
Yamin also tweeted, Complete and utter choas on the streets no power my heart is beatin outta my chest! .tsunami warnin I am only a mile inland. CNN began reporting the American Idol stars tweets as part of their earthquake coverage. Fortunately for fans, Yamin later reported that he was safe via Twitter. We r totally safe and sound 4 the time being Im finally calmer, and dawn is approaching, which will help!..thx 4 ur prayers Im totally calm now .were all 2gether got blankets from our rooms, and were all hudled on the street..no aftershox in a while, the star tweeted.
The former American Idol contestant spoke to ABC News about his experience with the earthquake, which is reportedly among the strongest ones on record. Im doing OK, all things considered, Yamin told ABC. It was a real fast, gyrating kind of shaking I havent been in an earthquake like that since I was a kid. I didnt even know if I was going to make it downstairs. The singer also admitted that he was pretty emotional and shed a few tears.
Yamin and his band were fortunate to be in Vina del Mar, for the Vina del Mar International Song Festival, when the massive quake hit. According to Yamin, there was no immediate destruction in the area.
Just in case anyone was missing me... I was traveling last week, so I’m still catching up on performances (actually up to results). I’ve been avoiding the thread to steer clear of “spoilers” — I should be more “real time” starting this week.
‘Idol’s’ Simon Cowell Talks About Ellen, Paula, and Who He Wants to Replace Him
‘American Idol’s’ cantankerous judge, Simon Cowell, spoke to reporters last night, and he touched on everything from whether or not there’s a feud between him and Ellen, how he feels about Paula’s departure, and who he thinks should replace him on ‘Idol’ next season (Hint: not Howard Stern).
Ever since Ellen DeGeneres joined the show during Hollywood week, there have been rumblings that the pair hasn’t exactly been getting along. While Simon denies any sort of feud, if you read between the lines, it’s clear that they won’t be having slumber parties and painting each other’s toenails any time soon. Cowell told reporters, “I wouldn’t say that we didn’t get on well. I don’t know Ellen that well. It was a difficult position for her, because she started work on the Hollywood week, which is a quite difficult show to do.”
While he may not have anything personal against Ellen, it’s clear that he wishes Paula was still sitting beside him at the judges’ table. Despite their their on-air bickering, it’s obvious that Cowell is quite fond of Abdul, saying, “Paula is my friend. Amazing, even though we used to argue a lot, she was somebody I just got very close to over the years. We used to hang out before the show. She always made me laugh, I thought she was funny. It was just like not having your friend on the show anymore. I do miss her.” It kind of sounds like we may be seeing Paula on ‘The X-Factor,’ doesn’t it?
As this is Cowell’s last season on ‘American Idol’ before he delves into the U.S. version of ‘The X-Factor,’ talk inevitably turned to his replacement. Cowell firmly believes that the person who replaces him should definitely have music industry experience. So while he shoots down some of the more outlandish names that have been bandied about, including Madonna, he does come up with an unexpected choice: Perez Hilton.
Cowell thinks that he controversial gossip blogger would do a good job, because Hilton “would be funny. He’s got a good taste in music; he’s a personality. That could work.” I couldn’t see Perez Hilton actually being offered the job, but he would certainly garner a lot of attention if he did. However, with the attention would also come a great deal of controversy. Is that really what ‘Idol’ needs right now?
Somebody was using a stolen card..... ;)
Glad to hear Danny has an album out. I hope it does very well.
Danny has always been one of my favorite Idol contestants.
American Idol: Girls And Boys Switch Nights Due To Medical Problems
http://www.realitytvcalendar.com/shows/ai-9/news/0302b-p1.html
We have just been informed by American Idol that tonight’s “Girls Perfomance Night” has been postponed.
The girls will perform tomorrow night instead of tonight and that means it will be the guys on stage tonight.
That’s rough. Short notice and a day less than the guys were planning on.
But for Crystal Bowersox, a judge, producer, and maybe fan favorite it could be a life-saver. She has an undisclosed health problem that would prevent her from performing tonight.
Here is what Fox and AI tells us...
Due to medical issues which would prevent Crystal Bowersox from performing tonight, the 10 male semifinalists will perform this evening, and the 10 female semifinalists will perform tomorrow night.
The 10 remaining guys (Lee Dewyze, Andrew Garcia, Todrick Hall, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Alex Lambert, Michael Lynche, John Park, Jermaine Sellers and Tim Urban) will sing live for Americas vote tonight Tuesday, March 2 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
Then, the 10 remaining girls (Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown, Michelle Delamor, Katelyn Epperly, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Lilly Scott, Katie Stevens and Haeley Vaughn) will perform live tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 3 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed).
Tune in the following night to see Season Eight finalist Danny Gokey perform his new single, My Best Days Are Ahead of Me, and to find out which two guys and two girls will be eliminated on the live results show Thursday, March 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
I don't think they've ever rearranged the entire show just because one person was sick. The idols have had to perform when they had the flu, and when family members were in the hospital.
But for Crystal Bowersox, a judge, producer, and maybe fan favorite it could be a life-saver.
I wonder if Idol would go to all this trouble if Bowersox weren't a favorite.
