My dad is a ham radio operator. He’s been doing that since I was a kid. (He still is impressed that I learned the phonetic alphabet just by listening to his and his buddies’ call numbers.) He always does the marathons and parades around the Pittsburgh area, too.
We cover a lot of things on this list. Most of these hobbies just don’t go out of style. They are skills and qualities that are more valuable than people realize.
I would add coaching football or baseball to the list.

Thank God people do that!
It is often exciting and suspenseful.
Sadly, distilling alcohol is still illegal. The legalization Homebrew beer, however, was perhaps the one right thing Jimmy Carter ever did. It is a sublime hobby.
The “suspenseful” turned into ‘suspensionless’, lol.
Honestly, that looks like something you would see in Mexico!
Hope you are ‘weathering’ the weather. Going to have hard freezes here in South Texas and had to put up a bunch of plants. Already lost a bunch.
CQ... CQ... CQ... DX!!!
I already have about 4 of those hobbies.
I’d assume any fermentation for libations would count. Wine is another; my preferred is mead.
Since you can only load arrows one at a time(for the average bow, please don't mention autoloading cross bows)and it is difficult enough to keep the arrow on the rest when you are sober, a drunk archer doesn't pose much of a threat. However, your scores, if you are target shooting, are going to be in the toilet as you get more and more loaded. If hunting you will probably not see the buck anyway!
On a serious note, broadhead arrows are extremely dangerous and I would not recommend that anyone fool around with them while drinking. Target arrows can put a hole in a companion and this would be another reason for not drinking while shooting your bow.
One that struck me in the list was letter writing. My very manly father wrote letters to us kids and his nieces and nephews throughout his life. One of my cousins came up to me at my father’s funeral and told me that one of my Dad’s encouraging letters helped keep him in college, when he was thinking of quitting. My Dad’s letters to me usually mentioned mundane things like mowing the lawn and going to the Navy Exchange with Mom, but they were from the heart. I’m missing him now— thanks for the memory.
I find that picture of Bozo very telling. Notice that everyone else, including Michelle, are not cringing back, just the POS that holds the office of President. I believe he is not only a moral coward but also a physical coward.
You are an IT and network specialist but don’t have a ham license to enjoy all the benefits of computers and Ham radio? Wow:). You should try it, us old timers are into such things!
All these posts I don’t see a mention of potato guns or pumpkin trebuchets.
I don’t have any hobbies; I’m dead serious about everything!!
Huh.... I can actually agree with those.
Nothing like drinking and playing with weapons.
I may take up noodling, (Catching catfish by hand).
Hey why is chess good yet Call of Duty not good, I like SOCOM confrontation better anyway.
How about learning to ride a horse ON a motorcycle?
