i did hear an interesting talk today by an MD who was talking about how the food industry (and probably some fine bakers) are creating addicting foods with the perfect combination of taste, texture, visual appeal so that you can’t just eat one.

he did say one interesting thing which made me wonder and that is that msg (which is in so many products) affects your insulin in such a way that it spikes and then drops in a short time, causing you to get hungry.

now i would have to say if this is part of what is going on (puposefully causing spikes, etc in body chemistry to get the desired effect) that is about as bad as the tobacco industry spiking and tweaking tobacco to addict you.

I'm on a low-iodine diet for health reasons for several weeks and the title of the piece made me laugh: "Diet without losing the will to live". Sometimes enforced diets are a bear to endure!
