Worst Films of All Time?

Posted on 01/06/2010 9:42:42 AM PST by ctdonath2

In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.

I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.

Agree about Zelig, but I actually walked out of the theater during Purple Rose of Cairo.

Hubby changed his mind. Wants to nominate “The Creeping Terror.” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057970/

imdb says they lost the soundtrack and were too cheap to properly redub—the “monster” is so lame you can see the actors falling down and forcing themselves into the “mouth” of what looks like a slow moving rolled up carpet with people inside. classic “dance hall sequence” is interrupted by the monster 5 minutes in. Note the dancers standing in line waiting to be eaten- also, monster finds shoes indigestible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv0MEZX45NE

Two words: Alec Baldwin.

Sorry, I disagree. Hurt hurts to watch he's so boring. Baldwin at least changes his temperament once in a while during his characterizations. Also, I said most over rated. I don't think Baldwin is rated anywhere near as high as Hurt is.

The worst rendition of a book to movie that I've seen is Dune

I was a fan of the book. Needless to say, the movie was a huge disappointment. Because of its poor direction, unintelligible storyline, poor acting, lousy special effects, wide departure from the original story and failure to capture the spirit of the novel, I nominate 'Dune' as the worst movie ever made.

Highlander 2, The Quickening was a spectacularly bad sequel to a very popular movie. I remember it was released before thxgiving, which was very early for movies back then, but then later understood it was because the studio knew they had a bomb and just wanted to get it out of the way before xmas season for movies started.

Movies I am ashamed I saw in a theater:
Action Jackson
Battlefield Earth

Movies I rented which were awful:
Pi
I Spit on your Grave
Fandango

Movies which stunk, but I like anyway (for whatever reason):
Dune
Starship Troopers

And I forgot Mike Meyer's The Love Guru...perhaps the most disappointing movie of the decade.

You've definitely got a point there.

Could be a grab-bag of bad. Fandango and Bull Durham should probably be in there as well.

I forgot:

The Blair Witch Project

I so wanted to beat those 'actors' with a baseball bat. The ending was the only bit that was even close to being creepy.
