Report: Elin Nordegren plans to leave Tiger Woods
Morning Call ^ | 12/16/2009 | Staff

People magazine is reporting that Elin Nordegren plans to divorce Tiger Woods.

In its issue that arrives at newsstands on Friday, the magazine quotes a source close to Nordegren as saying, "She plans to leave Tiger."

It cites another source a saying, "She's made up her mind. There's nothing to think about: he's never going to change."

More here from People magazine

Meanwhile, Nordegren has been photographed around Orlando this week without her engagement or wedding rings. MSNBC.com reports that she was sending a message.

"She knew what she was doing when she stepped out and pumped gas without her wedding rings," the site quotes one source as saying. "There are plenty of people who would have filled the tank for her so she wouldn't even have to be photographed. She chose not to go down that road. Moreover, she chose to make it clear those rings were not on her. No hands shoved in pockets, no hiding. Remember, she's still one half of a couple that has had, up until recently, a most-crafted image. She knows what she's doing."

The New Testament most certainly does address adultery and divorce - with the words of Jesus himself!

Matthew 19:7-9 (NKJV) They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” 8 He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

9 “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

“I doubt if she asked him to give up golf.”

All of them are unnamed sources! Do you honestly believe unnamed sources?

There are some unnamed sources this morning that cite Tiger being unaffected by all of this and eager to get back with Rachel Uchitel. Yet others saying he is devastated.

I suppose you believe that as well.

First Elin was going to get $2o million, then $50 million, then $300 million, then 1/2 of his net worth.

Maybe you are, but I’m not so gullible!

Yes he did cheat but they should not divorce until the last child is in college.

Four year college or is 2 year community college OK?
Does the kid have to be living away from home while in college? What if they are attending college while still living at home?

Just trying to understand who this all works. Thanks.

Wow!

Adultery
Abuse
Addiction.

These can sometimes be overcome, but in the above cases staying together “for the sake of the children” is often more damaging than divorce. And this is not a feminist statement—if the wife is the adulterer, abuser or addict the husband should leave and take the kids!

Let’s see. You respond on a thread in which the article is “according to sources” and then criticize because the links I provided were “sources”.

You suppose you know what I believe.

Your claim is that you may not be so gullible, yet your conjecture is that I am. Unless we’ve met somewhere, you don’t know jack about what I believe or whether I am gullibl or not.

That, my dear, qualifies you as annoying in my book. LOL

Jesus noted one exception that does not make a remarried person committing adultery: Matthew 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife,

except it be for fornication,

and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Your interpretation cannot be correct because it would conflict with Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18, and Cor. 10-11. "put away his wife, except it be for fornication" refers to a marriage that is not legitimate according to divine law such as a common law or incestuous marriage. See:

Please see post #80 on the biblical question.

P.S. The Catholic Church would permit civil divorce but not remarriage unless the first marriage was found to be invalid.

This is what you STATED:

Yeah, but she got him to say that he’d choose her over Golf. She made him grovel and she sent a statement to the Sponsor’s at the same time.

If you don't "believe" what you said, then you have problems.

My point is that NONE of us really know what has happened behind closed doors. We don't know if there was an ultimatum ... it sure doesn't appear that he "grovelled".How did he grovel? What made you think he did?

If you have the inside story why don't you tell us the details. As for annoying, you sure fit the bill too! :)

They have the inside story. [wink, wink]

I never emphatically say another FReeper’s opinion is wrong...but your assertion that Elin’s divorce plans are caused by a feminist manifesto, are patently wrong. To use the moral equivalency of “men have always cheated” so Elin is using some rabid feminist plan to validate her divorce?

Ahh...NO...how about as a good mother she wants to remove her children from the toxic lifestyle (and pathology) of their father. Keeping the kids ‘away’ and seen only in supervised settings is the BEST case scenario for the children to grow up ‘normal.’. How many more ‘women’ are going to surface? How many blood tests will Elin have to go thru? He made their lives a mess...and you think she is wrong for taking the kids and leaving?

You gotta be kidding!
