I DO agree with "death", but by the slowest means possible...
Don’t the Chicoms have hackers on staff?
Did you lose any data when the tech fixed it?
What do you think of sandboxie? Is this a good program to isolate a virus so that changes can’t be made to your registry.
It’s FUN!
*dies from attempt to sound like it was*
I’m not a violent person but those people just do it for spite ... rather than shooting, their fingers should be broken beyond use ... let’s see them program with a pencil between their teeth .....
Unless running Ubuntu can remove the infestation, it doesn't address the request for help.
I doubt that will run on my 400MHz Power PC G3...
Thanks, McGruff, but the virus blocked everything I tried.
Even tried putting removal tools on CD but that’s when the virus seemed to get more aggressive.
Another thing - I picked up a virus from an FR jump that caused all my searches with Bing or Dogpile to go to other websites ... still does it so I had to use a backup drive and reinstall Explorer and Firefox ... data was ok .....
Advanced Virus Remover happened here last week and used a program called combo fix. No other virus remover worked, but combo fix did. Good luck
Ok, pull the hard drive, use a usb enclosure to hook it up to another system via usb. Then download and run Spybot S&D in a full scan. Then run Malwarebytes on the system in a full scan. Then put the drive back in the original system and try to boot up in safe mode and run Malwarebytes again.
Try this website - has some info about that virus:

If you know how, you can create a bootable CD (or floppy) with the proper OS that can access your hard drive and run a good virus program (compatible with the booted OS). This takes a little more technical skills and tools than you may have.
Other FReepers have mentioned removing your hard drive and connecting it as a slave (secondary) drive on another system, (or same system if you have a secondary drive that is also bootable - just swap the primary and secondary connectors). Then you can boot to a clean OS and run the anti-virus program or removal tools on the secondary (original primary) drive.
Hope this helps.
try combo fix
When my daughter's XP Viao went down, I burned the Ubuntu startup/install disk and booted it from that. Took all the data files off on to a USB hard drive, no problem. Then installed Ubuntu as the only OS. She loves it.
I also installed it on my laptop, only with a dual boot system. Pretty impressive. If I were not married to Corel Draw for business reasons I'd set at least one of my boxes up as Ubuntu only.
You should have a look at Acronis software, it is an image back up to an external drive.
If you ever run into a problem, just reinstall from the back up and everything is put back the way it was when you last backed up.
It's inexpensive and easy to use. I had an HD failure on a Dell laptop, went to Fry's for a new one and had the machine back up in an hour or so, OS, programs, everything.
For me it was a life saver as I have a business I run from my house so the data on my drive is very important, I highly recommend it
I frequent Free Republic alot. Never though of getting a dedicated FR PC though.
