The reaction reveals more about those who are shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, about his behavior than it does about him. The idol of Tiger has been shown to have both clay feet and putter. Equally amazing is that he apparently wasn't smart enough to realize the extent to which his marketability wasn't due to his expertise as a golfer but to public perception of him as a truly nice and decent family guy. He didn't seem to realize that whereas he could lose a tournament here and there and it wouldn't diminish his public appeal, being seen as a smut puppy would turn his gold to rust.

I agree with all you said except that I really don’t see much “shocked, SHOCKED” reaction, here or anywhere else.

Disappointment, yes. Especially since Tiger seemed to really go the extra mile to put himself out there with a squeaky clean family-man image.

But not shocked.
